Just a quick one for those of you who use Community Resolution Notices. How do you do things? I used to gather all the available evidence, as if doing a summons file and prep an interview for the suspect, Invite them in as VA and interview them. After the interview, I would explain the CRN (as I had already checked their eligibility) and then offer one to them, with relevant recompense. Now there was usually one of 3 outcomes: A) Refusal to accept CRN, summons file prepared and sent off B) CRN issued, recompense complied with C) CRN issued, recompense ignored. Just would like some advice RE plain clothes operations. It has been suggested that in order for a normal uniformed officer to conduct plain clothes patrols around towns/areas that they would need a RIPA authority. Please could someone help me out? I didn't think that you needed a RIPA if your simply conducting plain clothes patrols as your not surveying someone and not targeting a person?

Hi, What are the eyesight requirements for the driving qualifications such as the blue light driving? Is it the same as the standard eyesight requirements for the Met? My eyesight is currently: Left: -1.00 Right: -1.50. With glasses on I achieve a 20/20 vision however without glasses driving isn’t the easiest! Does anyone have any experience regarding eyesight reqs? Thanks!

Hi, Should I expect any adequate self defence training during my training for the Met? What are we taught and does it actually relate to what you might need while on duty? Also, I’ve been looking into self-defence lessons as I’m not the most physically gifted person at the moment. Does/has anyone took part in any arts such as Krav Maga? Thanks

Good morning, This might be a strange topic but here goes. I’m due to start my internal CKP at the end of the month and I’m a little worried about sweating in my uniform once I’ve completed training. Is there anything anyone can suggest to reduce the problem? For example only wear such uniform, any products like Sweatblock, any under t shirts that help, and so on. I’m someone that sweats quite a tad so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi all, I work as a Security Guard for a larger retailer, recently I’ve been thinking about the legality of security guards arresting members of the public for shoplifting. I was wondering this, as to my understanding, shoplifting isn’t a criminal offence therefor not indictable if the value of the theft is below £200 so security have not powers of arrest in this situation. If I as a Security Guard, arrested someone and used reasonable force to bring them back into the store to await for police, could this get me charged for assault, fails imprisonments and/or kidnapping? Or or am I missing a part of the law that says otherwise? …

I've seen few companies popping up providing 'blue light' training in my area. I'm not sure if this is because forces have had their instructors cut. What legal exemption do they have to go through red lights and break speed limits? I know private companies can register as 'ambulances', but they have to be used for that purpose.

I'm starting my training in a fortnight, and while my PST course isn't for a while, I'm a bit worried about what it might entail, and how it might conflict with what I've already trained with. Around a year or so ago we had the local immigration enforcement officer pop down to our BTP post to give a talk on the necessity to check foreign nationals who come to police attention with their control room before processing any action our end, as a result of this talk we adopted this as a local policy within our station. I'm currently 4 months into my training and my force has only just opened recruitment for regular police constables.
