Hi all first post so please be gentle. I am soon to start training. I am older recruit and it has been quite a while since my college days. I am also coming from a background that is completely different to policing. So, what are your top tips to get you through college and those first few shifts. I'm really after that advice that isn't really taught in college. That stuff that you didn't even think that you needed to know but would have proved invaluable if you did. Things like your overcoming nerves for your first shift, first arrest, first time you had to use force, your first body or sudden death etc and also generally how to avoid making yourself look …

Hello all, I’m currently awaiting my start date for the regs with only my uniform fitting left to go. My better half is a paramedic and depending on which block I get put onto, there’s a possibility we could end up only seeing each other in passing (she could finish her shift just as I start mine, I’ll be off when she’s in and she’ll be off when I’m in, etc). I understand that this is a possibility and if that’s the case and nothing can be done about it then so be it! Evening all, I'm hoping some on here can give me a bit of advice or maybe help me see things a bit clearer. I'm currently having sleepless nights as not sure what to do. I've been a Special since 2010. I have loved it (minus the first six months). I soon realised I wanted to be a PC. I applied a couple of times and failed either at the papershift or assessment centre. December I had my second assessment centre and failed by 2% on working with others. I appealed the result as I got the paperwork late. This was agreed and they sorted another assessment centre six months later. I had this in May (I think) and passed. The government have issued a statement on the judgment of the public service pension issue; The government is committed to providing public service pensions that are fair for public sector workers and for taxpayers. This is why we brought forward reforms in 2015, based on the recommendations of the Hutton report, to ensure that these pensions are sustainable in the future. From looking at the how Taser was progressively rolled out (starting with Firearms and Specialist units, then to selected officers on Response, and then progressively opened up to more), it got me to thinking: When incapacitant/irritant sprays were first introduced, how were they done? I’m frustrated about Crime in England. The British Crime Survey says that Anti social behaviour in rural areas is 23%. Yet the National Rural Crime Survey says 48%. Both can’t be right. which Survey should I believe? And yes, I understand that fly tipping is on the rise. The NRCS also says that rural businesses other than farmers is 37%.
