Dear all, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48718725 I am concerned by the immediate treatment of Mark Field MP, as if he has committed some grievous offence by seeking to detain and remove a climate extinction protester. I am of the opinion, based on the news reports, that there was a "breach of the peace" in progress, with a considerable number of activists gaining access to a private dinner, seeking to disrupt the meeting, and the speaker. Some of you may have seen the tweet below: https://mobile.twitter.com/metecoban92/status/1140297204898439170 His tweet has been lambasted by what appears to be 99% of people. However In the name of debate has he got a point overall? He seems to think questioning people whist they are being stop and searched is a good thing which seems rather idiotic approach for a politician to take. Do these councillors do more harm than good?

Hi all. Hope you are all well ? Apologies if this is the wrong form i couldn't post anywhere else. I am looking for help with the assessment centre for police Scotland. I have had my first attempt this week and have unfortunately failed but concerned as to why. My feedback was pretty poor and doesn't really give any guidance or room for improvement. I failed on "Effective communication" Interview -I was "a few marks short" on meeting one of the competencies which was "personal effectiveness". Overall it was very good. Hi all, I have recently passed my Day One with the Met and have been invited to Day Two and have been given some forms to complete prior to attending. On the vetting form I disclosed that back in 2014 (5 years ago when I was 18), that I had a small amount of cannabis confiscated from me in Italy by the police. As possession in Italy is decriminalised, no action was taken and I was aloud to go free, although I am unsure if this was recorded. I chose to declare this as I am completely in the dark on if this would show up in the vetting process and wanted to be 100% truthful. Hi all. As a motorbike rider of some years, filtering is getting more and more risky with the amount of cars now on the road and inconsiderate drivers who position said vehicles anywhere but centre of the lane. Now I only understand driving in or on a hard shoulder is dangerous to anyone that happens to be broken down in it. As motorbikes are such nimble small machines and can manoeuvre easily around obstacles. My question is, do or would a police officer stop a motorbike from using the hard shoulder when traffic is congested? It seems safer and more logical as long as your not riding silly speeds. Hello, I have just passed the assessment day and been invited in for the fitness/search/vetting next month. I came into a bit of money a month ago from my dad passing which I have used some to pay off 10k of existing CCJ's which I unfortunately got from my younger army days, my credit rating isn't great, its gradually going up. I have now paid these off but I've been told they can take a while clear, will this be used against me in the credit check? If so what are my options going forward. Thank you

My day job takes me to Ireland, both North and South on a regular basis and recently I read in the Irish Independant that the Garda are not well disposed to their 800 reserve constables and want the government to scrap the scheme. The papers editorial ran a piece on the sucess of part time/reserve officers and mentioned the UK as a shining example with its reserve police force of 'PCSO's lol. Are there any Garda reservists on the forum and if so what is your experience? Regards Martin

Hello forum, I have come to pick your collective brain! By day, I am a London firefighter trained to drive fire appliances by means of an approved EFAD (Emergency Fire Appliance Driver) course which allows me all the exemptions of speed limits, red lights etc etc. By night/days off, I'm an Essex Police special coming up on 14 years of policing experience and I am keen to bring my blue light driving into the Police. Has anyone on here successfully convinced their force that the driver qualifications they have from a different emergency service are sufficient to allow them to drive on blue lights in a standard police car? If so, how did you go about it? …

Hello all In regards to Common Law I am entirely unable to find a simple list that details offences and key points for Officers to be aware of. I am aware of the Use of Force it provides (as is drilled into every newbie and MOD 1 / 2 Refresh), and that we can prevent a breach of the peace under it as well. However, now and again someone will say "Oh we have a power under common law to..." or "use common law there". I don't feel confident in doing whatever it is they're suggesting as I don't fully understand the legislation itself; could anyone suggest a link to a website or similar please?
