Hello all!! So after many months of waiting and completing all of the interview & tests, I am due to start my training next weekend to become a special constable within Essex police. I will write a brief diary of my training for those who may be interested in what to expect. I was just wondering if there is anyone else viewing these forums who will be joining the S8 Intake.

Say you had an emergency, like a large fire or a terrorist incident, and there weren't enough police on duty to cover it, what would happen then? Would officers be called in from home? Or from a different police department? Would desk officers have to get involved (eg in patrols)? And would everyone (even those who were off duty) be expected to work until the emergency was resolved? Many thanks! Dan

I have been Civilian Enforcement Officer for HMCTS for over 20 years, in the new year all warrants issued for the non payment of fines are going to go on PNC. This has been the case in the London Metropolitan area for many years but is being rolled out across the country to coincide with my role being privatised. It is currently policy in my area that should the need arise for me to arrest someone on warrant for the non payment of a fine and the court has closed for the day then I have to call the custody suite to see if they will take the defendant. Hi, There are different names for employee support policy (ESP), like employee support volunteering or assisting but it seems to all be the same. Your employer give you time off work to complete your duties as a SC. I know many companies do this countrywide but I specifically want to know if any NHS Trust does this. I work for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, and we currently do not do this. Do any of my SC colleagues that work for any NHS trust know if they do ESP? Hi there! Say the police are investigating a crime, and they suspect someone to be involved, do they need to tell that person they are under investigation? Could they, for example, collate evidence or interview others about their involvement, without telling them? Could they do something more intrusive (such as put a trace on their phone) without informing them they are being investigated? Many thanks Dan

Apparently there was a National Conference about Citizens in Policing, and someone has basically been live-tweeting it under #CiPconf2018. Which, if anyone else is a fan of the Police Academy movies, reminds me of #4, Citizens On Patrol (or, 'COP'). Hi folks I am not sure whether I am in the correct forum but I am urgently seeking to establish what was the acceptance criteria for admission by a female into the Metropolitan Police Cadets circa 1976 to 1981. I believe the criteria present day is that the applicant must either a) live, b) work or c) study in one of the London boroughs. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I am interested to hear from any Forces or Fed reps about management cancelling an officers First REST day after coming off nights, surely there must be a health & safety issue here. The Regs might allow this to happen but should it be allowed to happen, against officers welfare & health issues. We are finishing our last night shift at 07-00am and being told to be on duty at 6pm, that day. How quick is your custody waiting time? In respects to having arrested someone, and transported back to custody in which the length of time you have had to wait in custody before they are presented at the custody desk to be booked in? The longest I have waited in custody before seeing the custody sergeant is 4 hours. Does anyone know if that breach PACE Code C by any chance?
