Hi all, I have a lot respect for police officers but in my last two dealings with them I have been shocked by how insensitive and abrasive some of the officers have been when dealing with situations that demand some of empathy and at least a degree of concern for our safety. IMO the effectiveness of the current crime-prevention policies and punishment-systems in many countries are unsatisfactory. The effectiveness of new judicial interventions should be tested in experimental scientific research. 'Wisdom of crowds' can help to explore new creative ideas and theories in this field. Hi guys, I’ve been offered a conditional offer subject to suitable references and a medical and have been placed in a talent pool until a suitable position has been found. Upon completion of training I will be in c division and I was wondering if anyone else is in my position and also how long you have been waiting. Also in regards to accommodation, is this provided during training or will I have to find somewhere myself under my own expenses? Thank you

In trying to get a feel for what a probationer should expect in terms of [emoji90] jobs and pranks, those things he/she should look out for and expect, would be insightful to hear your thoughts and or experiences.

I am a newbie cop and still within my first two year probation period. A general query here in relation to complaints. I have had a couple of silly complaints now, they are total rubbish and based on complete rubbish. The first one I heard nothing about and the second one has been allocated locally. I was wondering at what point do you completely switch off from them? As I am new they cause slight anxiety.

As a door supervisor in nightclubs and security at events, it's a regular occurrence for me to come across concealable weapons such as credit card knives, belt buckle knifes etc. I knew they were probably available on the internet somewhere but never really looked into it as usually the more recent ones are posted on facebook such as the car key with the hidden blade. I have noticed a general rise in Twitter accounts representating the police. These Twitter accounts are from all ranks from CSO, Specials, Cons all the way up to the chief. The Constables and specials have a disclaimer saying "all views are my own and do not represent the police" or words to that effect.... The higher ranks don't seem to have this... So I know this is a hot topic amongst the users on this forum. I am currently a basic driver. My course allows me to travel from A to B but I am also allowed to use blue lights / sirens to stop any vehicle so long as it’s a compliant stop. Should the vehicle “fail to stop”, we must cancel all lights and sirens and stop following. Frustrating!
