Hi all, I'm currently going through my police officer application and have reached my medical stage and I'm just awaiting a date to go speak with the force medical team. My question regards pre-reading prior to starting training school have any of you done this and if so did you find it beneficial? I've been considering getting a copy of the latest Blackstones Policing Manual to have a read through so I can better equip myself for when I do finally start training. My current role which is also within the police allows me to have knowledge of law and crime but not to the scale of a police officer? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi all, some of you may have seen my previous post regarding my application for a custody officer position with Police Scotland. Unfortunately I wasn't successful but I still really like the idea of the job and have been considering relocating if I can get a similar job elsewhere. Just out of curiosity. have any of you ever relocated to join the police? I'm considering any areas between Newcastle and Manchester, still keeping north enough that I can be home in 5 hours if needed. How easy did you find relocating? What was some of the more difficult decisions you had to make? Would just like to hear your thoughts on it.

If a Police officer or PCSO (on duty) decides to go inside a restaurant and drink some free coffee offered to them then are there any misconduct offences committed?

Stupid question time... If you arrest someone as they have left their house and decide to search their address under sec 32 pace. Are you allowed to search any people in that address also. Read the legislation but can't make my mind up either way!

Hi guys Not sure if right place to post, however thought I’d ask. Speaking to a former officer who has long retired, he stated that they used to get given many opportunities to sometimes go over to other countries etc. Not sure what the actual reason was back then. He asked me if this was still the case, obviously I don’t know about this. Have many of you had the opportunity if so where have you gone and what have you done?

Do we have any experts here re the regs? Or any Fed Reps even? I've been mucked around regarding my shifts yet again, at the last minute. It keeps happening to me, because I have skills that other people don't have. Does anyone know what the official line is re the regs and when duties can change your shifts? I've asked the Fed Rep who has basically said 'they can do what they want'. Having done some of my own research, I've found some very helpful websites and FAQs from other local federations that seem to indicate that once a shift pattern has been published, any variations need to be done for a pressing need. Now that I won't argue with. But the fact that the…

Just a few thoughts about the current recruitment process I wanted to share. I Re-Applied to a certain force in October 2016. I had previously applied and was waiting for a start date a long time ago but recruitment was cancelled. I Passed all parts of the selection process and the final interview by early July 2017. I Was told I would “likely” start in January 2018. Then January comes and now it’s “likely” to be May 2018. I called in on a four separate occasions to be told the “system” is down and they would come back to me. After a week I emailed as I had heard nothing although I was told I would receive a call or email. The reply was t…

In what ways can the army support police, fire-department and EMS in the home country? What could be the pros and cons of this domestic military support? What factors could hinder or enhance this civil-military cooperation?

http://metro.co.uk/2018/02/21/people-caught-vaping-behind-wheel-lose-licence-7329737/?ito=social Don’t vape and drive. That’s the message from senior police officers who have warned drivers they could be prosecuted and even lose their licence if they are caught. While using an e-cigarette behind the wheel is not illegal, breathing thick clouds of vapour into your car can obscure your vision. Police may decide the act is potentially dangerous, and drivers could be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention Read more: http://metro.co.uk/2018/02/21/people-caught-vaping-behind-wheel-lose-licence-7329737/?ito=social?ito=cbshare Twitter: https://t…

Currently in our force, we are issued normal black trousers (non combat style). However, our DSU/ Tac ops teams/traffic/firearms etc are all allowed to wear combat/cargo trousers with the ties at the bottom of the trousers. They appear much more practical, much more storage and pocket space and much more suitable for front line policing. What trousers do your force issue? Does anyone think we have a fair argument if one unit or team is allowed to wear a certain trouser, we should all be allowed to wear a certain pair? I'd much rather wear the combat but as they're not issue I'm not allowed.. Thoughts?

Really quite a controversial question but here it goes, IF someone was to build a firearm with a barrel that is blocked and was chambered only to fit blank ammunition (.22 or 8mm) and paint said project a bright color (neon) would this be illegal?
