I was made aware by a colleague that a retired senior officer Kevin Moore wrote to his local MP Stephen Lloyd to ask for support in hosting a 'Royal Commission to Protect and Improve Policing' and has set up a petition that has gained nearly 270,000 signatures (still climbing.) Such a Commission hasn't happened for 60 years and given the state of current affairs, the service, resourcing needs & issues he does make a convincing case to have one hosted. Quite an interesting video to watch and quite harrowing, armed robberies occurring frequently on London Streets where gangs of youths are holding up couriers and moped riders for their bikes. Documenting the on-going issues around violent crime and disorder that seems to be continually blighting our streets.

I have noticed that the MET are using Community Resolution as a disposal a lot for adult offenders for drugs offences, yet not many other forces are doing this. This is separate from the choice to issue a cannabis warning or issued a PND. How does this work? How do offenders make amends for a crime in which there isn't an identifiable victim other than Regina? Is this just a way to write such matters off?

I thought this video would be interesting for any budding wildlife crime cops out there but below is a video I found on YouTube involving the investigation of a game keeper shooting two owls unlawfully, parts of the investigation and the conviction that followed (poultry sentence it has to be said.) What interests me is the heavy involvement of 'RSPB Officers' who film the game keepers actions and his subsequent arrest/detention. Interesting to see that two police forces, the Metropolitan Police and the Thames Valley Police, are both present at the Royal Wedding. Also, that some armed officers wear all black, with baseball caps ... and others wear proper shirt&tie and cap with weapon. Do officers volunteer for such duties at Weddings, funerals etc, or are the posted? Be interested to hear some thoughts.

Hi All, Wanted to gather some opinions on this, from regs and specials The role of "special sergeant" is for the most part and administrative one. And one that requires no exam or test. To be promoted to Special sergeant you need to be independent, trusted and willing to do paperwork for free basically. Personally I disagree with being referred to as a special "Sergeant" as I think that the rank sergeant needs to be respected and earned, I myself am a special sergeant and am sometimes embarrassed to use that term as I feel I don't deserve it. I realise that DV is a serious and important issue. I know the risks around it. But, I often wonder if the way that we deal with it sometimes causes more problems than it solves. A lot of forces have a positive action policy, which in reality is little more than a positive arrest policy, but is this really the right way to go? Often, police turn up after things have calmed down. Our interference then can sometimes make things worse. Sometimes, I agree, it is necessary and needed, but is the blanket positive arrest policy really the best way to go? Evening all! It's good to finally be back on here. Bit of advice - Going to be seizing 2 dogs in the near future for being dangerously out of control. My understanding is that there is no requirement for a warrant to be sworn out and the dogs can be seized without warrant? Could anyone advise? Everything else is set up for the seizure.
