Hi everybody, I've heard a few different ways officers have responded to being called a grass, pig, etc. I normally just ignore them as they're just after a rise, however, I've been thinking there must be a better way of dealing with them, especially if the comment is made in front of the general public. Does anyone have any good responses they use, especially ones that are PSD friendly? Thank you, M

I'm desperate to find a photo of him, but oddly the only photo I have is of a friend/officer that joined the same day as him. Pictures below. I'm sure we're all aware that leaving dogs in hot cars in this weather is stupid, and I've heard of it happening yet I'm still to come across it. On the basis that S17 would be entry to save property (the dog), or criminal damage in the defence the owner would consent in the circumstances that their dog is imminently about to die, if you came across it off duty how would you respond? In our rural areas when people have rung they've been told no one will be able to attend, and luckily the owners return in time? Would S17 be applicable off duty and a route you'd go down? Hi all, I am really excited to start my 13 weeks training in September, however I am slightly worried. I understand that good leadership is a huge part of the job role, but in all honesty, I wouldn’t call myself a natural leader. I would much rather take and follow instruction from others, or ask advice or guidance. What’s your opinions on this? Do you think I will struggle during the tutoring phase? Or can I expect to gain skills and confidence during the training phase? I expect that this is just pre-job nerves, but any opinions or feedback would be great

I’ve seen officers further arrest people in custody for public order offences when they’ve been verbally abusing members of staff and officers in custody. in my opinion custody is not a public place, wouldn’t disorderly conduct at a police station be a more appropriate offence to arrest for?

Just a quick question, is there any legislation or part of the traffic act that prohibits following a recovery truck on its way to an accident . I over heard a driver of one such vehicle say to a driver who had been following him through traffic that it could attract a 10 point penalty ? Is there any truth in this ?

Interesting change to the law on dishonesty in that the Ghosh test that all serving officers have ever known is ‘no longer good for law’ and has been replaced by Ivey v Genting Casinos (UK) Ltd 2017. No subjective test on the defendant anymore so warped standards are out.

I’m a special and done my first vehicle search the other day. we ended up arresting someone for possession of cannabis but he was NFA’d. I’m wondering if there was another way I could have dealt with it. basically I was walking down a street where a car was parked up. Upon seeing me and my colleague 3 men ran from the car, we had a short foot chase but lost them. We went back and searched the car as it had been left open and found a small snap bag of cannabis in the glove box. about 5 minutes later a man returned and said he had been driving the car and asked what was going on. i explained I’d found cannabis in the car and had seen 3 men …
