I was scene guard at an incident recently on a Saturday night. A member of the public decided to deliberately duck under and cross our tape barrier as a lark with his mates. Afterwards, I’ve been trying to think of the best legislation I could have used, had I chosen to arrest rather than just have strong words of advice. Section 19 PACE and then Section 117 gives me power to enforce the cordon, which I used. I could have used Section 5 POA but in this case, I don’t think it would have been appropriate as there was nothing obusive or offensive. It might for other situations. Are there any tutor constables on here? I'm soon to be starting my tutor phase and am curious to get the thoughts of any tutor constables amongst the membership on here. I'm aware of the basics like listen to what they say, do what they say, make the tea, volunteer for anything and everything. But I'm interested to hear what sort of mistakes student officers make (not the uk cop humor type mistakes, but serious/sensible answers), what can i be doing now in these last few weeks to make me less of a liability to my tutor? Code G states one of the necessities for arrest is - Prevent offence against public decency. Public decency makes me think automatically of things like exposure and indecency. Am i barking up the wrong tree? I'm wondering if it could be a useful necessity for Public Order offences? Can anyone give any examples of offences where it might be necessary to arrest to prevent an offence against public decency? I'm trying to use P+E as little possible now and when another necessity exists, i will use that.

Hi everyone, Not sure if anyone remembers me - I used to post on Police Specials before it was run into the ground - thought I'd come on here out of nostalgia. This isn't really to do with the new change in divisions in London, but sort of the same post code. This may be before some people's time so I'll give an example. There'd be divisions and sub-divisions. It was known as 'AREA Policing'. Within the Metropolitan Police there was 67 'areas'. Like the Bill every area would have a Chief Super, so in one borough there could be 3/4 Chief Supers policing their own area etc. Somewhere such as Manchester you'd have within the City of, Hulm/Moss Side, City Centre, Gorton, Whalley Range, Levenshulme etc., within Salford you'd have Salford, Eccles, Swinton/Pendlebury, Walkden and so on. My Mrs (non police) regularly writes statements for the police (medical statements) My Mrs was involved in a incident at her work together with other staff members, one of whom was headbutted. When she came home and told me what had happened she told me the lad had knocked his urine over her deliberately whilst kicking off. I told he was had happened to her was also assault. Hi there, I'm a 20 year old a month away from training for Humberside Police as a PC. During my recruitment process, I noticed many people older than me, I looked like a little boy compared to most! the eldest on my fitness test was 38 for example. I just wondered if there is any stigma in policing about young officers? do they think I'm in it for the cool factor or will they admire me for having my head screwed on well and getting where i am at my age? will I be treat differently by my colleagues? I've also had concerns about members of the public taking me seriously as I am fairly baby faced [emoji23] thanks for any input, H
