  1. Home Visit

It's been a while since I've posted on this blog, mainly because nothing's been happening. I attended my medical which went smoothly, but involved waiting for 4 hours with other candidates in the piping hot waiting room of a converted semi detached. Aside from that it's just been chasing up references and trying to extend my son's vocabulary past "dog", "mum", "dad" and "gone" (which is apparently now a noun used to refer to a bin) Late this morning I got a call from my local Neighbourhood Sergeant asking for a home visit. Nearly an hour later and the kettle was on and I was panic shaving the mess that I haven't bothered to touch since my interview at the start of the month. The home visit was the part of the process that really intrigued me, having not made it to this stage before it was a complete unknown although some of the saints on here gave me at least an inkling of what to expect. The first test was a fairly simple one - white tea none. I didn't get any feedback on that but there was no vomiting so I'm taking it as a pass The visit essentially consisted of an ID check, around 20 questions designed to find out my attitudes towards drugs, binge drinking and right wing political groups as well as making sure that there was nothing that I hadn't failed to declare on my vetting forms. The questions were fairly formal, but after they were out the way I had an opportunity to sit and have a cuppa with a serving supervisor who could answer any questions about the job in a formal setting. Just the vetting to wait back on now so hopefully this time next week I'll have a final offer of employment Hopefully...
  2. The last 4 working days have felt like 4 working years, filled with endless refreshing of emails and irrational Google hunts as to how long for SEARCH results... This morning I got the call that I had been waiting eagerly for/dreading, I've passed the assessment centre! Ecstatic is not the word! Whilst I'm under no illusions that the final interview is far from a formality, I'm confident after my past experience was that it was a much less robotic and unfriendly assessment environment than the AC. I'm booked in for the interview next Friday morning, so it feels like the journey is slowly but shortly coming towards its end - hopefully not too abruptly. Congratulations to all those who got good news today, and commiserations to those who didn't, I know how it feels to be dumped out of this process but, to use a cliche, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and get back on that horse in 6 months time. Cue garbled panicking post on Friday around 1pm, it's time for a beer...
  3. Start date 2017

Anyone on London Met start date April 2017? I am starting my internal CKP in March.
  4. Hi all, I'm currently just about to start training for Notts specials having passed all pre-employment checks. I joined with the intention of getting into the regulars, while also gaining experience and a true insight into the job. However, my neighboring force Derbyshire have announced plans that they want to recruit 240 regular officers over the next three years. They are opening up recruitment at the end of the month, and I'm torn between what I should do. To make things even more confusing, Nottinghamshire have advised that they plan to open up recruitment in the new year. Ideally I don't want to hold out as these things aren't guaranteed and could be postponed or cancelled without notice. I can't help feeling bad if I were to just ditch my specials application/training, as they have invested time and money into me already. But I also see this as an opportunity to try and get in, and if I don't succeed then I always have the specials to continue with at Notts. Although of course I'd have to wait six months to reapply and I would miss the Notts regular intake! Just looking for some advice from people who have been there and done it already. Thanks, Adam
  5. PC Intake- March 2016

So, after what seems like forever, I've been offered a PC start date of the 29th March! Is anyone else on this intake?
  6. It looks like things are looking up in the north. Humberside, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire are all expecting to recruit 100+ bobbies in 2016.
  7. Sorry if this has been discussed before, if so please feel free to delete. What is the training required if you are successful as a Special with IPS joining as a regular? Do you still undertake the full training package or is it a streamlined version? Many thanks.
  8. A curiosity thread... If a serving Special/PCSO applies for the regulars but fails the vetting process, will he/she also lose his/her role as a Special/PCSO considering it is the same class of security clearance? Then again, it would be insane to hear if anyone who has actually failed vetting after passing it as a Special/PCSO... Though I can think of instances for that happening
  9. Hi guys, So had recruitment already happened for 2015? I've checked out the recruitment webpage which states "We will be re-opening our next recruitment campaign during 2015". What's the deal? I'd be interested in putting in an application. I'm a Special over in North Wales waiting for recruitment windows to open and the West Mercia area isn't too far for me to uproot to. That is, unless, they only recruit from their Specials / PCSOs / locals? Let me know! Cheers, Ed

  12. Kent Police Issued Uniform

As someone has already done in another forum, I suppose I should do some grown up stuff. Can someone post the issued kit and uniform lists for Regs and Specials for KPS?
  13. Afternoon all, Bit of a reach out to see if anyone else is out there who applied to the above recruitment but didn't make the cut for this months intake. Has anyone heard anything recently re what Leics are planning to do? Cheers
  14. The 'Two Forces' Rule

Hi there Straight off the bat, I know that applying to two forces as a Reg is a no-go. However, I noticed something that leads me to believe that an application to BTP and MDP may be possible. BTP from what I understand do not use the SEARCH assessment, whereas MDP do. MDP's site says: "You may only apply to one Police Force at a time if those Forces require candidates to undertake the SEARCH®." Would this mean, by some twisted logic, that it would be okay in theory to apply to both these forces simultaneously as a regular? Thanks.
  15. Is anyone starting as a regular with Leicestershire in April 2015?
  16. Hello all, Ive got my intensive course starting next week. Any tips ? Also this PT kit does the trainers have to be all white ?
