Hi all, I have bought a car recently and I was wondering if I am allowed to tow it on the motorway. The car is taxed and MOT'd and will also be insured. I will be using a towing bar (not rope). Am I allowed to legally tow it on the motorway? Any responses will be much appreciated. Thanks

i'm looking to buy my 1st car soon, what do you think is the best? I'm looking for a small automatic car thats not too weak as I'll be doing motorway driving and driving up steep hills in the countryside. A bonus if it's 4 wheel drive as it might snow! I'm thinking of something like a Ford Focus or Peugeot 207. I'll probably add an ipod connector and later I'd like to put racing seats in.

Just topped the oil up on the car ( was a bit annoyed because I only put in a fresh amount about 6 months ago and the light started flashing again ). When I'd finished the journey the wife noticed a smell and saw some White smoke coming from under the bonnet. After it'd cooled down and the smoke stopped I checked the dip stick and saw my oil level was low after just being topped up. I put a little bit more in and saw there was a small trickle of oil coming from underneath where the entry for the oil is and this was dripping onto the engine. This appearedto be causing the smoke. Any suggestions or ideas how much I'm going to have tofork out?

Some of you may remember that I had a slight bump back at the start of December. Well the insurance have now decided that the car is a total loss, AKA a write off. So now I need ideas of what car to get next. What I've had; MK4 1.6 Astra MK5 1.9 Diesel Astra MK5 Astra VXR MK3 3.0 Diesel Vectra What it needs; Reliability - not going to cost a shedload each month to keep running Comfort - Sport seats / leather / Auto wipers / Auto dipping mirror / Climate control (I'm willing to trade off comfort for power / performance Performance - Nothing less than ~150bhp, preferably closer to 200bhp+, good handling. What I don't want; A ford Budget; £7k - ~£10k Suggesti…

Hi, having a bit of a problem in my area and wondered if anyone has any advice? Basicly, at the end of my parents road there is a school. It is a small street and there are obvious and common parking problems around schooltimes. However there seems to be a new trend starting since Christmas, the blantentness of which I can't believe. There is a group of school mums which, when there are no parking places left on the road, are finding empty drives in the street and parking on them! This happened to my mum and when she went out to see what the car was (my dad was out shopping so their drive was empty) she got a torrent of abusive language and a speech from the stranger i…

Hiya, just a quick question... I've just got my Provisional Licence this morning, but on the counterpart under "Provisional Entitlements" it is blank. There are no categories printed nor any from-until dates. Yet on my licence itself the categories are printed and on reverse the dates are printed. Do I need to send it back to have the entitlements printed on the counterpart also? Cheers

I have recently renewed car insurance and have just discovered the complication of NCD! I am 66yrs. of age and have insured my cars since 18yrs. of age always having comprehensive insurance and protected NCD. I presumed that I would have by now "max. years ncd",so when I apply online every year I state 9yrs+ in box provided. Can I say that in all my motoring history I have not had any claims. This renewal I did the same and ticked the 9yrs+. I was asked to provide proof of NCD from my previous insurer which I duly did and sent the info. to my new insurer. I have just received a letter from them asking to contact them. When I spoke to them I was told my previous ins…

I have a jeep grand cherokee as a take home vehicle for K9. I have noticed that my gunbelt has caused a wear hole on the outer edge of the seat. Granted it is left side drive but my gun is on the right side of the belt. On the left is the double magazine carrier, flashlight, asp, key holder, radio, glove case, pepperspray, gun (sig 226) and double handcuff case rounding out the belt. the approximate mid point is the glove case. I am of medium tactical girth. any repair suggestions or preventative measures for the seat would be welcome. I will add a picture when I figure out how to do so.
