I can't work this one out. It's an older model, 1999 to be precise, Volvo S40 2.0. The digital meter showing how many miles are left in the tank sometimes drops quite suddenly, one minute it says 120 miles left and then within another mile or two it's dropped all the way down to 25 miles left. If I stop for fuel at this point, upon removing the fuel filler cap a large amount of air gets sucked in, the meter will then go back to 120 miles left, likewise if I park it up and leave it for a couple of hours it reports the correct amount of fuel again. There is no difference in performance it's just a bit worrying about how much fuel is left in the tank. Any ideas? Cheers

I have a 2002 Renault Clio. Since I have had the car (February 2009) I've changed 2 wheel bearings. When they started to get noisy I changed them pretty quick. But now another one has become noisy but only at 60mph exactly! Below or above by a couple of mph and it's fine. I'd usually not hesitate to change it but I'm due to go on holiday this month and things are pretty tight... What's more; I'm supposed to drive me and 2 friends 240 miles each way to Manchester Airport next week. My question is: How long will a loud wheel bearing last before it becomes a hazard.

After pretending i know what i'm doing and buying some radio keys to remove the radio and check the aerial, i've decided i'd best ask the question to see if anybody has any ideas whats wrong. I've got a Mk1 Focus, when using the radio i am able to play CD's perfectly, however at first the stereo part would sometimes work and then not, now it won't at all, all i get is like a whistling noise that comes and goes. I've removed the head unit (i think it's called that) and the aerial is still connected which was my first idea with what could be wrong. Does anybody have any other suggestions?

I need some help, I have a 1999 ford focus 1.8. It is a lovely little car and never really had any issues... until now I had not checked the antifreeze levels for a while and the engine started to steam under the bonnet when idling and the temp gauge shot up. I stopped and checked and filled the anti freeze again. But now, with full tank of anti freeze after about 10 minutes the radiator starts to smoke / steam again. the engine temp display reads normal but there is a fair amount of steam? I have used RADWELD to seal any little leaks but this has not helped. Appreciate your help Danny

Hi, I am wondering if someone can help me out on this? Whilst driving 5 miles an hour in a supermarket car park being a Saturday noon it was quite busy and I drove into a parking pole whilst driving into my bay. It took of my wing mirror and a dent occurred on my right side of the car. Haphazardly this happened so fast that I didn’t get the chance to react on it. Hello folks, Just to pick your brains and get the opinions of those of you who have had experience in different cars, I recently started work in Manchester (Didsbury to be more precise) which leaves me with a 60 mile each way commute (120 mile round trip) each day. At the moment I'm driving to work in a lowly Peugeot 106 1.1 which manages the motorways fairly well, but I either have to make it scream to get to the upper motorway speed limits which uses more petrol than when I'm content to just doddle along at 60. So, bit worried and annoyed here. Bought my car back in the end of March from a car supermarket. Not received the V5C document so contacted them blah blah they did sod all. So today called the DVLA up as had time and seems my car has no registered keeper. Now, simple to resolve however I'm worried as I am sure I got caught by a van going 35 in a 30 and also my sat nav messed up in Brighton and took me trough a bus only route which had bus lane cameras. I need some advice, if I have been caught then what happens? As the car isn't registered. (sorting it on Monday at the DVLA office) Also not wanting this to effect my progress with my police training.

Hi there, im not sure if i am in the right forum for this topic but would appreciate some advice. I was travelling to work when i exited the M1 at J29. My intention was to go straight ahead taking the second exit. I was in the right hand lane. Entering the roundabout travelling at approx 25 miles per hour. Both lanes allow you to exit onto the A617. I'm planning to buy a used car from a dealer around the end of this month. However i've looked at insurance on MoneySupermarket, and the reg comes up as 'Automatic' transmission, whereas the car ia a 'manual'. The car make, model etc is correct. Could it just be an error in the computer system, or am i right to be concerned?

I have been roped into becoming a van driver at work because we don't have enough of them, the main reason being the van category isn't automatically put on licences these days and I'm young enough not to automatically have it... Only the old sweats have the vans these days. Good morrow team, I was driving my brother home yesterday when he commented that my VW Golf 1.9 TDI was running a bit untidily at the idle. When we pulled up on the drive way, he got out and asked me to stop, then start the engine. He proceeded to be shocked and disgustsed at the amount of <Insert nasty word beginning with S here> that came from the Exhaust. The same happens when I rev the engine hard.
