When revving the car not in gear it still make the same noise. It sounds like a diesel van. Could be any number of things, but that particular car will be a cheap fix and I doubt any decent mechanic in the land wouldn't be able to fix it. Regarding MOT test, it involves no testing at all of the drivetrain such as the engine or transmission, with the exception of stuff like CV boots on front wheel drive cars. It seems that they are usually related to the timing chain/tensioner or the hydraulic tappets/ camshaft lobes becoming worn. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
