X-Adz-X 150
So, bit worried and annoyed here. Bought my car back in the end of March from a car supermarket. Not received the V5C document so contacted them blah blah they did sod all. So today called the DVLA up as had time and seems my car has no registered keeper. Now, simple to resolve however I'm worried as I am sure I got caught by a van going 35 in a 30 and also my sat nav messed up in Brighton and took me trough a bus only route which had bus lane cameras. I need some advice, if I have been caught then what happens? As the car isn't registered. (sorting it on Monday at the DVLA office) Also not wanting this to effect my progress with my police training.
Ducky 139
How did you manage to get insurance if there's no registered keeper?
X-Adz-X 150
Just changed the vehicle over. Was my impression it was registered. The DVLA said because its taxed insured and MOT then it's legal. Kinda worried.
Mayday 407
You'll get a ticket or something along those lines via the post if anything. Also, i don't think the Central Ticket Office is open weekends, so if you get it sorted on Monday Am, you should be covered As far as i'm aware (in Surrey anyway) you only need to prove you're the registered owner when you go to collect the car from a S165 seizure, and even then there are other methods of proving you own the car other then the V5. At the end of the day, you believed in good faith, that you were the registered owner, having bought it legally and via a well known, established company. X-Adz-X 150
I have the green slip in my documents which I keep locked away, I have kept it locked in the glove box because I have not yet got the V5C as always been in the back of my mind. As for the possible tickets, would they get issued when it's put in my name if I've actually got them? Was over a month ago.

X-Adz-X 150
Hmmm okay. It still worries me how I drive around the country etc and not once been picked up on ANPR wouldn't of thought a vehicle showing no keeper would require a little digging. You'll be VERY surprised what doesn't get picked up, especially when you do your Front counter attachment for Hampshire....
X-Adz-X 150
I've used ANPR with RPU and it worked very well maybe I'm lucky lol Main reason for the topic was the advice and the fact I'm scared of the smallest thing that may harm my progress in training :/
Guest
How did you manage to get insurance if there's no registered keeper? You'd be surprised how many vehicles are out there with no registered keeper but a fully up-to-date insurance policy.

Guest ----
On the speeding side of things you they would probably use one of the other databases to find out who has the car at that time. As for the bus lane I don't know if that's a police or local authority camera enforcement.

The requirement for an NIP is that it is sent to the last registered keeper's address within two weeks - it doesn't have to be received by the current owner within two weeks. If that was the case then all you would need to do is not register your car and you'd never get a camera speeding ticket ... James

dizzi141 46
The last keeper will maybe get a snotty letter threatening a fine from DVLA, that's what happened in my case. It's them that have committed the offence of not notifying the DVLA according to the letter.
