I want (need) a new mobile phone

Thinking of a new phone and I have been looking at Huawei for some time. I quite fancy a P Smart 2019, Sim Free, it can be had for approx £180. There's lots of news about Huawei and the future but from what I can see anything already running Android is safe and will receive all updates as well as be allowed to access Google Play etc. So has anyone got any experience of one of these or any Huawei product? Anything I haven't considered?

Hiya folks, Well the desktop is on its way out and with space at a massive premium at the moment I have decided to look to buy a laptop. Now I've never had a laptop before but I assume I will use it for the same tasks as my desktop which included: Web browsing (multiple tabs) Microsoft Office type stuff iTunes & downloading In an ideal world I'd like it to: Be in my budget of £350 Come with Microsoft Office Possibly be Windows 7 (only because I have no idea what 8 is all about if anyone can help?) Decent size screen Of course as much RAM as I can get within my budget Do any of you more "clued-up" folks have any directions to point me in? I have looked on Currys…

Need a new laptop for work 1 2
by Charlie- 20 replies
- 1.9k views
Can anyone recommend a laptop for me?! Even if you don't know about specific models, just makes to go for and makes to avoid would be good. I've read good things about Dell, Toshiba and Lenovo and read bad things about HP and Medion although that just might be hearsay! Budget is £400 cash but could maybe stretch to a little more if a place does 12 months interest free finance like Sony. Need: Enough RAM and processing power to handle lots of office-like programs open at once, moderate photo editing and HD video. At least 15 inches of screen size. At least 500GB of HDD space (although to be fair I'll probably put an SSD in it....) Good enough on board graphics card to…

I want to build a SFF PC for gaming
by IrateShrike +- 7 replies

I'm getting fed up of using the Xbox controller for FPS games, I want to go back to mouse/keyboard like I used to. I know there are some adapters but they are quite expensive and still don't emulate how you would play on a PC. I haven't really got room at the moment for a large desktop system so what I want to do is build a small but high-powered SFF/media centre PC (if possible) and rig it up to my 39" Panasonic HDTV in my living room. I'll work out the ergonomics of how I can use the mouse and keyboard in due course. The main issue is that I've been out of the loop on PC hardware for about 4 years now, reading the old websites like Overclockers etc bring up all mann…

Denon sound plate

This seems to have good reviews, not that I know much about these things. I don't want a sound bar, and I don't understand all this 5:1 thing, separate woofers and all the rest. Yes it has good reviews, but anyone have personal experience? Opinions welcome. I have a 2 month old 32" LG 3D smart TV. Link

I have a 6 or 7 year old Dell Studio 1745 laptop with windows 8.1 I decided to try and upgrade my network card for my LAN, so that I can get 1gb transfer from the computer to my NAS. I bought a Startech.com 1 port Gigabit ethernet network express card (this one http://www.startech.com/Networking-IO/Adapter-Cards/1-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-ExpressCard-Network-Adapter-Card~EC1000S ) Now its supposed to be plug and play, so I plugged it in and waited for the beeps from the computer, but nothing happened. I have the two green LED lights on the device but it doesn't appear in Device manager and gave me no option to install any drivers. I downloaded the latest drivers I could…

Well I'm looking for a recommendation for a TV system/package. I already have Freeview and wanted your opinions on what is best and why? I'm looking to pay up to about £40 per month for the TV alone (I already have broadband and phone) and I'm in the service area for Sky, Virgin and YouView. Thank you.

I can no longer leave comments on You Tube. Previously I could easily comment on a video, now it takes me to a sign-in page which asks me to choose names and goodness knows what. Anyone know what's going on and what I should do??

Photo Recovery

Hello! Right my problem is I found some old memory cards during a clear out and ive opened them up to see what they contained. Finding they contained some old holiday pics ive tried to transfer them onto my PC but somehow deleted quite a lot of them! Whoops! So with the frustration of my mother bearing upon me I bought some software the can recover items from the deleted space within my PC. Jobs a good'un I thought! I downloaded the pictures using the software to my desktop and hoped that would be the end of it. Problem is though - Firstly, When I view the recoverd pictures as thumbnails they show normal and the picture is complete. However when I open the picture to …

Due an upgrade - iPhone 5s or iPhone 5 1 2 3
by Foxtrot-Alpha- 33 replies

Hello, Due an upgrade to my outdated little beast, but can't decide on an iPhone 5s or iPhone 5! Not too bothered about the fingerprint malarkey, but the 5s is slightly more cosmetically appealing to me, however the deals would be Unlimited texts, minutes and 1.5GB of data (which I would use without much hardship). The iPhone 5 - £35 a month on 4G, nothing upfront. OR The iPhone 5s - £37 a month on 4G, with £119.99 upfront. Now in my defence I have tried android, but not a fan, I do like Apple and the iPhone series, therefore any opinions on the above? I'm finding myself very indecisive today and need some help choosing haha! The prices above I am happy with eith…

Network storage and back up 1 2 3
by sparkydale- 39 replies

Can a more techy person please explain this to me (or offer a better solution). I need to buy a new laptop, mainly for photo and video editing, but also itunes etc. Most laptops will max out at 500gb hard drive, but I can easily fill that (as I currently have on this one inc, having an itunes library around 120gb) So, I'd like to move some of this onto networked storage. But then I also need a back up. Is there a 1 box solution to this (small and easily hidden away). Can I get a 2 disk NAS box thing and use 1 disk as storage and the other to back up the stuff on that's on the laptop and also the disk 1 stuff?

Computer for Photo Editing
by prolixia- 5 replies

I'm looking to buy a PC specifically for photo editing using Adobe Lightroom 5. I'd like to be able to process 24 mp RAW files reasonably swiftly. I'm not a pro photographer building a dedicated powerful workstation, I'm just looking for something that will work reasonably well. I don't play games, so that's not a factor. The only intensive task I'll be using it for is photo editing. My intention is to use two monitors and I would prefer a case with a relative small form factor. I don't mind building my own system, but am enormously out of date and don't know which components I should be considering. I'd prefer to keep the cost as low as possible, but am prepared …

Sky & Love Digital TV.co.uk Relationship
by Jake CE- 7 replies

Hi, I had a call from someone at Love Digital TV.co.uk yesterday saying that Sky has tasked them with contacting their "valued Sky Unlimited Broadband customers" and were offering me a free Sky HD Box, with free installation, the Entertainment Package and Sky On Demand for an additional £8.25 per month. Now, I am immediately thinking this must be some sort of scam so was wondering if anyone else had experienced this, or dealt with Love Digital in the past? Thanks, Jake
