Hi there, I have a collection of Special Constable, Long Service Medals. There are many that go back to George 5th (with crown and without) and George 6th. As they are all individually named on the rim, I have tried to do some research on these medals however I seem to be unable to find any site, index or listings of the recipients. Can anyone help and guide me in the right direction. Many thanks, Alan

I know this isn't a drop in centre, But I could really use some advice. My dad left when I was twelve, disowned me in fact. He rang me yesterday to tell me my nan had died, now I haven't seen her since either. I asked how she was today, I got some abuse from my sister who lives with him saying I showed no respect to him! The guy disowned me!! Now, I sent him a bloody long text stating how he's not my father etc. This is the bit I regret, I stupidly put "If I see you in the street you're a dead man" That's not me, I'm sure you can appreciate I'm upset. He rang my grandparents and said he was taking the text to the Police, I believe this to be a hollow threat, bu…

Hi all, Im after some inspiration for an upcoming task. I am a helper/leader at boys youth group near me for boys from age 11-19 years, every year we go on an end of year camp and the last few years I have been tasked to make an "activity" for the last day. Over the last three years we have made Soap Box Derby style karts, golf ball flinging trebuchets and last year I made potato cannons for them to use (with alot of supervision). All of the things are made in my garage before we go and then we try and get them to make it up and use it during the activity (the potato cannons were made only by me for safety reasons) I need to think of something to make with/for them th…

I would very much appeciate it if some one could explain to me what I did wrong and or what offences I may have commited today. here is the scenario. I was parking my car in a car park, I went to reverse out of the space and was beeped at by what appeared to be an aggressive driver. I straightend up my vehicle, finished parking and exited the car. Parked behind me starring at me was the car that beeped. I asked him what the problem was......he got out of the vehicle and told me i reversed out infront of him. I started arguing my case back explaining that this was a car park ect, at this point he pulled his police officer badge and said " we can take this to my offic…

This isn't related to me personally. A customer pays for a product or service to a retailer via their credit card. The transaction falls within the type covered by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (CCA). The customer is not happy with the product/service and therefore successfully brings a s75 claim against their credit card (CC) issuer for alleged breach of contract. The CC issuer reimburses the customer for the product and hence remedies the breach. The retailer disputes this and puts the customer on notice that they intend to take legal action against them for non-payment as the credit card has charged the amount they had to refund the customer, to the retailer. Now th…

I'm hoping someone on here can offer me some explaination as to how the following can actually happen, and perhaps suggest who I need to start raising it with. In May 2010 I was involved in an RTC in Westminster (London). I was riding a motorcycle down a road when the taxi that was in front of me pulled into the left lane and stopped, as I got closer the taxi suddenly pulls a u-turn straight accross my path. I hit the brakes to try to avoid hitting him, the front wheel of the bike slides out from under me and I hit the road hard. Ambulance and police attend the scene, the driver admits that he caused the accident, there are multiple witnesses, and I have the incident …

3 parcels were marked up with the correct addresses for cvollection by the same courier company. The company then applied the same consignment number to these addresses and delivered them all to one address of the three. The person did not tell me they had recieved these parcels and I had to ring her delivery address (Place of work) to find out what had happened. When I rang, the recipient had gone on holiday two days prior (The monday of that week). The parcels were delivered 4 days prior to her starting holiday leave (Wednesday of the week before). I was told by the receptionist she was aware of the mis delivered parcels and had taken them home. Having sent an e-m…

A very simple question, but not one that the SIA website seems to answer: Can a close protection SIA licence be used for work in a door supervisor role?

Hi All, I have just had a bank statement through and seen that a large sum of money has gone from my account via card transaction. It has been taken by the car insurance company that I was insured with last year (30/10/2010-30/10/2011) im guessing that they have renewed my policy without telling me, I have had no renewal letter or documents through the post or by email. I will be ringing them up tomorrow morning to give them a piece of my mind but before I do I was hoping that someone would be able to tell me what my rights are? can they just take my money without asking? FYI - They took the money over 20 days ago from a savings account that I rarely check and have o…

Hello folks, I have a legal question that I'd like your opinion on (I have read and understood the disclaimer) My boss has today decided to change me into a different company car, knowing full well that there is a full tank of my own personal fuel in there. He has promised to reimburse me for that cost, but then later changes his mind and uses the car I filled up myself for his own personal use. He has said he will not reimburse me. Has he committed a theft or any other offence? Many thanks James
