Hi all Me & my band are hosting a charity gig on the 11th November in aid of Cancer research. I've posted the details on PS.com with the permission of Lord Vader. The post can be found here: http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=123388 We want to make this event the biggest yet. I wanted to appeal to all the good members of PS.com if they can help by contributing any prizes for the raffle. I've sent letters out, gone into shops in the high street, and cajoled as many friends as I can, but so far, I've recieved a lot of "Sorry we can't help, but best of luck with the gig" letters from companies. I have already sorted out permission from my super…

Hey guys and gals, Anyone any good with mountain bikes? If so, I was wondering if you could offer some advice. My inner tube has slipped resulting in my valve being at a weird angle which is ponting towards one of the spokes , I was wondering if I had to take the entire tyre off then re-align the inner tube or is there a way I can do it without taking the tyre off. Many thanks in advance

Hello Given that us specials come from all walks of life I was wondering if we had any CIPD Human Resources types in here. I am trying to get a bit of advice . If any of you out there happen to be in HR could you drop me a PM please Apologies if this is not the correct use of this forum so please delete topic if needed as it is not really a police related matter Thanks

Hi Guys, This is a strange one. Basically at work over a week ago another member of staff knocked into my vehicle causing minor damage. She made off without trying to find out who owned the vehicle and i would not have found out had she not been seen doing so by another colleague. He came into where i worked and asked about the van I said it was mine and then he told me the story. Through our security system i discovered who it was. I then approached her and asked her for a quite word, at this stage I identified myself as a SC and showed my warrant card to confirm this. I explained to her that she was seen damaging my vehicle with her own vehicle, and she had left…

I currently live in a rental property. I started my tenancy in May of this year and organised a 12 month term. However I have seen a property that I wish to purchase. The move in date of the property will not be until December. However I am unsure whether I am able to leave my tenancy agreement. I am not sure I understand the terms and conditions. Is there anybody on here works in property rentals or has any sort of law background around this matter? (NOTICE: before anyone jumps on the slaughter band waggon, I’ve been on the forum long enough to understand terms and conditions, who I should trust and not etc so please refrain, many thanks)

Hey all, Just been to the bank today and upgraded my account to a student account. With this, I currently have a £200 interest free overdraft, which goes up to £1000 after I receive my second payment from student loans. I was told that I could start using my £200 overdraft today. However, when do I pay this back? There is nothing in the terms and conditions saying when the bank wants to be repaid. I get paid from work every month and will have a substantial amount of money in my account from the student loan (starting next week). So am I right in thinking that if I went into my overdraft by £30 today, the bank will just automatically take the £30 back when enough mo…

Just wondered if any techie peeps had any idea: In the last week or so, my PC has been going a bit mad. I have a windows sidebar, which displays the PCU % and RAM etc. The CPU is sometimes running at 100%, mainly when I have firefox open, and iTunes is another thing that seems to kill it. I can hear the fans cut in and go beserk too. I've tried a system restor, but it hasn't worked. I've done all manner of Virus scans, spyware scans and malware/adware scans. Nothing found. I've cleaned/defrag'd the registry (which it said should improve performance by 6%!) but it's still running too high. Anyone know what the problem might be, and what else might you suggest? If ther…

Greetings all, Can anyone recall an interesting BBC special, broadcast around 2006 in the aftermath of 7/7. It was a one off, and featured a bunch of private sector types attempting to contain a terror attack on London. What was it called and is it available anywhere ?

Help! I'm involved in a project that requires Latin wording. Has anyone got a good knowledge of Latin? Using Google will not help me, as Latin words can have more than one meaning.

Have had my Ebay account since 2006, my Paypal account from around the same point, both are linked together and I have bought and sold no problem up until last night. I was listing an item and went to submit when it prevented me from doing so as it said I had to either: Verify my identity with a bank account or link ebay account to paypal account. As my account is already 'Verified', I followed the instruction to link my Paypal with my Ebay following: > My Ebay > Paypal Account then click on the link 'Link My Paypal Account'. Except when I get to the last stage it tells me my accounts are already linked yet it won't let me list the item! Have emailed su…

Hi I wondered if anyone would be able to help me with this. My husband last Friday lost his watch at a hospital, we were only there for around 40 minutes, the loss was discovered within half hour of leaving and we called / were back on site another 30 minutes after that. We left messages / spoke to the department we were in, other departments in the area, the general office and security and nothing had / still has been handed in. We believe the pin on the strap must have broke and dropped somewhere without us hearing so it would be obvious it was lost to anyone finding it - since when does anyone knowingly place a watch of sentimental value on the floor! We placed a…

Hi, A friend of mine is having trouble with the neighbour of a house she rents out. He has been both verbally abusive and has caused criminal damage, however since the tenants have not wished to pursue this, the local police have never been able to charge him. They have on record several occasions of 'problems' covering several of her tenants and other neighbours. Questions: Does my friend as the LandLord have any right to recourse? She has been present at some of the incidents but doesn't reside there... As a Special from a different area (I'm Cheshire, the house is GMP) I'm assuming I have no right to get involved? Examples: Verbally abusive to the tenants. V…

I have always wanted to be a police officer but at the moment I'm not old enough! until I can apply in just over a years time I'm getting in as much experience as possible so I can go into the police with the "life experience" they like you to have. I have just applied for a job as a customer service assistant at the trafford centre. I applied in February, passed the application but after the interview I was told I couldn't have the job because I hadnt left school. I have now left and I have been invited to another group interview. The first interview I had we got split into 6 groups and were given tasks. The first was "a customer slips on a spillage in the centre, is cla…

Hi there, was just wondering what would have happened and what will happen should this guy inform the police of what happened earlier!. I'm riding on my bike down a main road in a cycle lane, the traffic it queuing, I am approaching a pelican crossing, the lights are GREEN. A postman carrying his collection of letters looks at the traffic, glances in my direction. Assuming that nothing is coming as the traffic is at a halt, he steps out to cross the road - AS I'M JUST ABOUT TO PASS HIM. As he steps out, I brake suddenly but theres no hope, I knock him over. My speedometer was reading 15mph just before the collision. There was nothing I could have done to not hit the guy…

I have been threatened with libel action by a business for reporting a possible theft by one of the business's employees to the police. Items of very low value were taken from my house by a letting agent without my permission. I reported this as a theft to the local police and made a statement. Because of the low value the police suggested that I resolve the matter with the letting agent directly and said that I should come back if I had any problems. I approached the letting agent who is now threatening me with libel and has demanded that I withdraw my statement (I have recieved several letters from the Agents solicitors). I am now worried about reporting back to …
