Josh'Grizzly'Gregory 138
Hey guys and gals, Anyone any good with mountain bikes? If so, I was wondering if you could offer some advice. My inner tube has slipped resulting in my valve being at a weird angle which is ponting towards one of the spokes , I was wondering if I had to take the entire tyre off then re-align the inner tube or is there a way I can do it without taking the tyre off. Many thanks in advance
jeddy 5
Yer just let the tyre down flat and you should be able to slip the tyre round a little to straighten up the valve then re inflate..
Smiley Culture + 407
This often happens to me, and it's a pain in the backside when it does happen because I find that the inner tube is easily damaged in that position. Any tips to stop the tube slipping in the first place?
rego_psp22 11
The tube should be able to move a little. I put talc in on the tube/in the tyre to allow the movement, and ultimately the valve to be in the right place for the valve hole. What valves to you have, and what are your rims drilled for? If you've got a presta valve on a schrader rim make sure you but the little washer the screws the valve into the rim before inflation. Like that: If you have a schrader valve it may well be that the valve isn't long enough for your rims. Just invest in some new tubes (I'd get some presta with a reasonable length valve)

Spot on advice, and I think most decent local bike shops will have the split ring collets you speak of. I know my Mavic wheels always come with a set. Josh'Grizzly'Gregory 138
I have the schrader valve on my tyres, to be honest I just de-inflated the tyre yanked it around to the correct position and pumped it back up to the max tyre pressure and so far not a slip so happy days :D With regards to bike shops the closest most practicable shop to me is Halfords
