Hey guys! Just doing an assignment and wondering if you could show some light onto these things in a day to day experience and also how they effect or help your work. They are: CHIS (Covert Human Intelligence Source), MOPI (Management of Police Intelligence), 5x5x5 grading system and RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act). Thanks

Good evening, New to the forum, serving paramedic in Kent. Hoping that you may be able to help. Years ago I started reading a series of police fiction books, but never finished them. I've been trying to recall who the books were written by and what they were called so I can obtain them. What I can remember is they seem to have been set pre judges rules, they were set in the UK, there was a young copper who was nick named as pizza. There was a fat copper who was known as a hypochondriac, and a WPC who was always working in the front office. If I can recall anything further that may be able to narrow the search down I'll post it up. Hopefully the vague description may j…

Hi, I am trying to figure out the best place to take my son to start some self defence classes life kung fu or kick boxing. He has a lot of energy and really needs to channel it, coupled with the fact that i want him to be able to defend himself in this sometimes hard world. He is 5 years old has just started swimming with his mum but i wanted to take him somewhere for self defence. I am not keen on karate, i did that but stopped and then did boxing instead. Boxing was much better. He does not live with me but he lives in the Croydon area but i drive so i can drive into other bordering areas after school or even further at weekends. Any ideas? what would you recomme…

Alright, I'm looking at putting in for my s/g cert. and was wondering about where I can locate a safe (note: not cabinet, safe). I know that firearms should not be sorted in outbuildings etc, but what about a garage attached to my house? At the moment it's the only place where I can really bolt it to the floor and wall without making a mess/having to reorganise the house. It's only accessible from the exterior of the house (i.e no door from indoors to the garage) and has a traditional "up and over" style door. It is alarmed and has a car parked up against the door pretty much all the time, unless access is required. I plan on purchasing a proper safe, rather than a ca…

Since it's a general discussion I thought I will bring up what happend to me. I was parked on private land, in a secure car park. I left the car there in the late afternoon and came back to pick it up about 10ish. Upon arrival the gate was locked and closed. There was one security guard however patrolling. I asked if I could get my car removed from the car park he refused and said the whole centre is closed and I will have to come back in the morning to pick it up. I refused from going away and waited until I got my car. He said that he could've clamped it if he wished but didn't. After 10 minutes of waiting he called management up and they said that take his licence det…

Morning and happy Christmas everyone! Sorry it's a long one. For as long as I've lived in my flat, coming up to four years that is I've taken delivery of and signed for my next door neighbour's parcel with whom I share a communal hallway. A courier would knock my door as it's adjacent to hers and ask if I could kindly accept her parcel sometimes huge boxes and I have. I'd then ask them to indicate on their delivery card that I had it. Sure enough when she arrived back home she'd knock my door no matter what time and if I'm in I'd hand her her parcel. I didn't really mind as she's a nurse and works round the clock and she's appreciative. I think she's a collector of som…

Does anybody know anywhere good where I can find old legislation, specifically online archives or the like? I'm looking for the 'Government of India Act 1858' which basically outlined provisions transferring power from the East India Company, to the Crown and HMG. I've tried legislation.gov.uk, but had no luck finding it there. It's to do with one of my essays. Many thanks for your help

Hello. I will start of by saying I am incredibly sorry if this is way of topic for this site, but I am going to be starting work soon as a S.I.A Security Guard. My question is what equipment is a Security Guard legally allowed to carry? Including Personal Protective Equipment, I don't want to be carrying anything that could get me into trouble. The reason I thought I would ask here is most people on this forum are Police Officers or have a good understanding of the Law. Reason I have not asked my manager is I have not yet officially started and I would like to get the equipment ordered and ready for when I do start work. If it helps just in case the Law is different…

Over the years I've bought a lot of stuff over Ebay, but have never sold anything. Recently I bought a new camera and would now like to sell the old one. I reckon I can get about £20-60 more selling my camera on Ebay than selling it to a second had camera dealer. This includes shipping but excludes Ebay fees. I'm happy to prepare a listing for it, but slightly nervous about selling an expensive item on Ebay with no experience of having sold anything on it before. What are the risks of using Ebay as a seller? Are there any cons I need to be aware of, or precautions I need to take (recorded delivery, for example)
