Hey guys, I am currently a Special in West Yorkshire but struggling with completing a survey for University! If any of you have a spare 5 minutes could you please complete this survey for my dissertation? It's about serial killers so could be quite exciting.... Would greatly appreciate it! https://demo-account.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/how-the-media-effects-the-publics-perception-of-serial-ki-2

If you have a survey that you'd like users of PoliceSpecials.com to complete, please post it in this thread so that we can try to keep the forum a little tidier. Any surveys mentioned in this thread are not officially sanctioned by PoliceSpecials.com (Police Community Group / Raw Digital Media Limited) and you are giving information to the recipient entirely at your own risk Please use this thread purely for the posting of surveys. Any discussion of them should take place in The Locker Room. When your survey has finished please add another update to this thread, we will then hide or update your original survey request as appropriate. Thanks. Upd…

I have just begun planning a stag do for my brother. What he would really like is for a large group of his friends (about 20 or so) to go camping. We would have a bonfire, set up a bar, do some stupid challenges, that kind of thing. I'm thinking along the lines of the Peak District, maybe Cumbria. Although the activities won't be particularly wild, what we clearly need is a private campsite, well away from families hoping to get a peaceful night's sleep. When I say campsite, all I really mean is a field we can hire for a weekend in which we could camp and light a fire (I expect that we would also hire a port-a-loo). Showers are not necessary, although proximity to n…

I'd like to security mark some of my property (bikes, pushchair, TV, that kind of stuff) and am looking for recommendations of a product to do that with. I don't want to use a UV pen because it wears off so quickly. I also don't want to use a hand engraver because I'll make a mess of my stuff. Expensive stickers linked to databases of property don't interest me either - I've already registered my more expensive stuff with immobilise.com and it's more a permanent visible marking that I now want rather than a service to store information about my property. I'm thinking of something along the following lines: Any recommendations?

Hello All, I am a PhD student in the School of Psychology at Cardiff University and I am inviting police officers in the UK to take part in my research on police stress, well-being, and attitudes. The research targets UK police officers between the ranks of constable to inspector. The study should take approximately 30 minutes to complete and all parts of the survey are optional which means you can choose not to answer questions that you are uncomfortable with. Your participation in this study would be greatly appreciated but your participation is entirely voluntary. In appreciation of your participation, each participant will be entered into a prize draw and…

This is not a policing issue but a rather light-hearted one to canvass opinions. I share a front lawn with the family upstairs I came back from the school run earlier today and saw to my dismay that my upstairs neighbours who are foreign have again decided to take advantage of the good weather and dry their washing on a clothes horse in our shared front lawn. While they haven't hung out any undies they have a variety of garments in interesting colours. This is becoming a regular occurrence. I find this shocking as I've never seen anything like this in this area. Besides they have access to the back garden, which if mowed is ideal for drying clothes. I don't want to s…

I received a call earlier today from the number 01386 244438 claiming they were from "Security solutions" or something along the lines of that. They said they're "calling today in regards to a report that my vehicle has had some damage done to it. Is this true?" I replied no, and they asked if I had had any damage to it within the last three years. Very weird phone call, has anyone else had one like this? I stopped driving about 6 months ago.

I would like some opinions. I'm a PSO (private security operative) and I work in night clubs and venues across various counties but mostly in the UKs Motorsport capital. I have a large amount of colleagues and myself who carry and are willing to deploy mechanical restrains. I have on a few rare occasions deployed mechanical restrains to stop a person leaving or to detain or arrest them before a police officer gets to me and my colleagues to prevent assaults, further criminal damage or in one case prevent a suicide. Now I would like some opinions. Security guards/door staff etc... Do you think they should be aloud to carry and deploy mechanical restraints. Yes there…

Can a teacher make you clean toilets in school? Some of my mates have to clean the toilets as a punishment for walking out of the class when told to stay behind. They have to do this for a week. Is this allowed or is there some sort of law against this type of thing.

I live in a small flat, 3 floors, 12 apartments. One of my neighbours downstairs smokes weed in the bathroom and the smell is coming up through the fan into my bathroom. I also have suspicion to believe that he supply's drugs to others as every night he gets on his motorbike and inserts a package under his seat. Also he shouts extremely loud on his phone arguing with someone saying " THATS MY WEED YOU OWE ME" what should I do. I did contact the police and 2 officer came over to his flat but he ran in plain sight of the officers. They walked off like nothing happened! I then got a letter from my safer neighbourhood team and they said that they wanted to chat on this date s…

Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of help with reagrds to the new pension system and specifically if possible The Peoples Pension. Being under 22 I have not received the information pack from work only a letter saying I can opt in for it early should I so wish and I emailed the Peoples pension but have no reply. So being on a low wage I would only pay in £5.21 a month and I assume I will work till im 65 so I would in total pay around 2,800 ish I think (althought hopefuly I will get more money as I age and will pay in more) so this really does not seem like a lot but does a pension work like an investment sort of thing? As they have diffrent risks…
