With nowt much else to do at the minute except browse ebay endlessly looking for more cheap tat I don't really need 😄 I came across handcuff keys being sold. Would it be illegal to buy and carry one around purely for the novelty? Obviously I guess there's really serious crimes if you were to use it to actually try and escape being restrainted but is there any law against possession itself?

Hi all, I recently had a visit from a police officer who accidentally left his black West Yorkshire Police jacket overnight. I gave into the temptation of trying it on in the mirror, and honestly absolutely loved the fit and warmth of it. As much as I would love to wear one of these in my personal life, I'm not sure of the legal grounds of wearing one for absolute personal use. If I was able to legitimately source one of these jackets, would I be allowed to wear it over my regular clothes in the cold weather? Of course, I am not planning on impersonating an officer. Notput as news as it’s not quite news. There was a news headline a few days ago where, AFAIR, the CPS advised there had been no successful Covid legislation convictions, some had been withdrawn, appealed or pending decisions. I assumed that excluded the ones where the person paid a ticket without objection. Itsclear the media has gone quite on such things and I doubt it’s because everyone is suddenly compliant So, in respect of the post, had anyone seen or can recall the CPS comments and are there Jews on whether there will be widespread withdrawal of cases / fines in due course due to the poor and inadequate legislation?

Hi, After some advice, we have had a SORN vehicle parked outside our house on a public road for the past 4 days. We do not know the owners but suspect it belongs to belligerent neighbours who live 5 houses away. Would this be a matter for the police to issue fine and/or two the car away, or the DVLA (who are not known for dealing with these matters swiftly). Looking on the MOT check, MOT expired in October 2020 and it is currently registered as SORN. Thanks for any advice. Phil

Probably looking for advice here from someone who has spent some time working in investigations or prepping case files My understanding is that all relevant unused material needs to be scheduled on MG6 series. I just watched a video of an officer attending calls to a possible party, the occupant denies it and says they need a warrant. The officer replies he has a power of entry. Bearing in mind this is a clip with little context, I'm not questioning the officer as we are not aware of all the facts. It did raise a question though. My understanding, as of now, officers don't have a general power of entry if they suspect an illegal gathering, in order to give tickets. They do, however, if they believe there is an infectious persons inside and there is a need to prevent infection. Looking at the recent news stories on here, as well as public order events over the summer,stop-search, racism stories, officers being arrested for theft or indecent acts, etc, etc, plus lack of numbers and generally tough conditions, is there anything positive left in UK policing? Is it something that people still aspire to be a part of, or admire? It's never been pretty and rosy, but these last couple of years it seems to be really rare to find anything positive about policing, in journalism, in younger or older people, or even with MPs and leaders of businesses etc. Any thoughts from people inside or outside the service?

We have recently have a heavy influx of probationer PCs on our team, and it's always helpful to have real world examples for them (and myself) when teaching them the ropes. I have a few reasons I use regularly, but was wondering if anyone could give some examples they've given to custody sergeants to justify an arrest under IDCOPPLAN? For example, with an arrest for class A, I often say prevent disappearance as their criminal history is such (providing it is) that they are unlikely to attend a summons or caution + 3 knowing that the evidence against them is strong and will likely lead to a custodial sentence.
