    Vehicle idle’s at 1900rpm

Any car savvy people on here? Currently having an issue with my BMW where when the vehicle is idling it runs at around 1900rpm. Once it gets to 1900 it usually drops back down but then starts heading up again. I took it to a garage who told me they’d ‘cleaned it up’ and the engine management light had gone off. I later learnt that by cleaning it up they sprayed the MAF sensor and charged me £180 for a diagnostic and labour 🙄 Im reluctant to take it back to a garage if they’re just going to charge me more money for something I may be able to fix myself. Any ideas? Could it be a faulty MAF sensor?

    Smoking in Vehicle with Children

Just wondering if anybody has issued a TOR for this offence yet? If so, whats the TOR code?
  3. It was a couple of weeks ago, I was working, where I work there is a car park behind the row of shops. I received a phone call from my mum to say that some #### drunk driver has hit my car, since 2 police officers went to my house which i live with my folks, just informing her what has happened. I got an incident number if I wish to go through insurance but Im not since it will affect my insurance for next year, and its only a scuff on the front bumper, but I was curious as to see what happens to this drunks case, ie does it go to a sheriff court? I know he will get banned hopefully but would I need to go if i got a letter or whatever to attend the case. do I get anything out of this i.e some cases they get a victims compensation (id doubt it). Many thanks
  4. Hello All, Currently I drive a Vauxhall Vectra SRI CDTI Hatch, but looking to upgrade to an estate. I am after people's thoughts on the following line up, and also on pros / cons of Used / New - PCP / New - Leasing Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTI SRI Skoda Octavia 2.0 VRS TDI Focus ST2 or ST3 TDCI BMW 330d / 325d M Sport Tourer I'd like something with a bit of grunt, that has space for the dog and the bikes!

    Floor lights

Is it legal to drive with interior floor lights on? I know that exterior lights are illegal due to all the colour restricitions and the fact they can be seen as distracting other drivers but what about floor lights? Here's an example ; https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017VSY3RY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_X8fUybBERM5FR

    Dash Cam

Hi Folks, After having some complete eejit reverse into my shiny new car yesterday, I'm thinking of getting a dash cam for my car. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not looking to spend lots of money, probably just over £100. I'm not so worried about it having GPS but the motion sensor activation would be handy (if someone hits the car and I'm not in it, for example). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    Buying a new car

I know there are a few petrol heads on PolCom so wondered if any of you can help me! Hopefully, I'll be starting a new job soon and will need to commute about 50 miles/an hour to and from work. I'll be needing a car and this will be my first. I've been a named driver on a car before but never had my own, and I'm sure the insurance premiums will be a big shock to me, especially with being only 19 and having 0 no claims I was originally looking at buying a brand new car, but am gradually going off the idea as theY depreciate in value very quickly. I'm looking to spend around £6-7,000 and ideally want something that is reliable and comfy as i'll be driving for a couple of hours a day. Does anybody have any suggestions? I do quite like VW polo's but I'm useless when it comes to cars so any input is appreciated.
  9. These have been posted on another forum I frequent: http://www.amazon.com/EverBright-Waterproof-Collision-Rear-end-Mitsubishi/dp/B00SH2IL1S/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1442855465&sr=1-1&keywords=Anti-collision+Car+Laser+Fog+Lamp And another picture: It's basically a laser type light that connects into the fog light system of a car. There are similar things for bikes (e.g. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/laser-bike-lights-that-tackle-problem-of-driver-blind-spot-rolled-out-on-250-boris-bikes-a2948481.html which are being trailed on Boris bikes). Obviously, the link is from amazon.com not co.uk so would these be legal over here? I've not seen them so far, but with the winter coming I expect some will work there way to these shores.

  12. Police have released footage of a high-speed car chase through Birmingham. Yassir Ali, from Hall Green, was pulled over by officers on on Weoley Castle Road in February while driving a silver BMW 1 Series that was believed to have been stolen. His passenger got out and then attempted to obstruct the police car as 30-year-old Ali drove off at high speed. Officers followed and the footage shows Ali reaching speeds exceeding 80mph through the city's traffic. He was eventually apprehended on Bristol Road when he drove on to a pavement and became wedged between a bollard and the front of a shop. Ali, from Russell Road, was jailed for 14 months on 30 March for dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified. He also received a five-year driving ban. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-32303663 *Video in link

    Stretched Tyres

Pretty simple question really. Are stretched tyres legal? You know, the kind that young boys in their mum's cars 'cruise' around McDonalds car parks. Thanks, Sloth

    Cancelling a car order

Morning all. Need to pick your brains again. Disclaimer noted. I ordered a new car 3 weeks ago and it's got a delivery date for at the end of May (provisionally). I put down £1000 deposit as I was set on getting the car however, my circumstances have changed drastically and I'm afraid I no longer can have the car! Being that it is a major car dealership (JCT) and Volkswagen, would I be entitled to my deposit back or not? FYI - everything was done face to face & I test drove a car that was the model below the vehicle I have ordered. If anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know. Thanks!
