Good Afternoon Ladies and Gents, Recently saw a topic on acting off duty, it got me wondering... When an officer acts off duty, how do you call for help from your colleagues if needed? Is the fastest route still 999? Does this impact your decision to step in?

As the other thread is focused primarily on the tough parts of 21C policing and the need to keep it light at this time more than ever... ... what are (still) the good parts?! The service aspect, kit, laughs?

Those who've spent time browsing on the main PoliceSpecials.com site may have found my Day in the Life article, which is basically a composite account of a supposedly "typical" duty when I was a Special. I thought it'd be interesting though for those people who are thinking of becoming Specials, as well as for serving officers if we had a few more of these. If you would like to join in, please reply to this thread with an account of a real recent duty you've performed. I want realistic accounts here - I am not looking for the most exciting duties ever, because they're not typical. So if yo

So, on the back of the other threads about folders and kit bags, natural progression leads me to post this! what do you carry on you when on duty? as I started it, I'd best throw a list down... Radio is on a clikfast. Combats, warrant card, money, usually some painkille

I've just watched a YouTube video on "the hidden side of UK police forces" There were some clips which raised concern where officers have ignored calls over the radio or failed to respond to a 999. Examples include: - A domestic disturbance had been reported but the officer driving said "there are plenty of people on B shift to handle this" yet the incident was just around the corner - In another clip an officer admits to driving past a victim bleeding out to get home for a football game - A 999 call comes in, all other officers are on other calls. One officer refuses to respond as he is "

Rank - SC Length of Service - 4 months Shift 1200-2200 Friday Type - NPT 1130: Arrive for a pre-planned shift with a very experienced NPT officer, check e-mails and make a brew. 1200: First things first - as it is Comic Relief Day, nip down the front office for cake! 1215-1330: Prepare our side of a Vulnerable Adult Protection Meeting. Searching the database for info about the family involved, printing STORM reports etc and getting everything in date order. 1400-1500: Meeting. Very interesting to see how Social Services try and do the best for individuals with limited

Thought i'd create a topic so that I can share some of my duties. Special Constable Length of service: 2 months 13:30 Arrive at the station, meet the sarge and kit up. Log on to the computer, check my emails and do the usual boring stuff that we do when we get to the station. We're notified of a few mispers to look out for an collect the keys to the car. 14:00 Grade 2. Called to a disturbance in a block of flats. Apparently drugs are being dealt. I needed a few searches for my PDP so i'm more than happy being shouted up for this. When we arrive we meet the caller who says there a
