The security apparatus can be astonishingly camera-shy. How do police choose who to arrest while leaving other protesters alone? I saw one video of a guy being arrested while they just ignored the guy with a megaphone standing right beside them

In the US recently, LEOs (law enforcement officers), are using a code word to tell each other when they are going a bit far. E.g. One LEO talks with a crook and is getting too emotionally involved, so the other LEO says ‘EPIC’ and then his partner backs off and takes a breather. This is quite an interesting time for international policing, particularly in the States, where it can be ‘them and us’, as it demonstrates to me, the idea that sometimes LEOs may enflame a situation more. I was at a crown court the other day. When going through security, the group in front (wearing suits) badged out but they still had to be searched. I though officers don't need to, or is it only while in uniform?

Watching Hotel Chcolate on C5. They were showing what happened to the stolen Choc Mobile van. It was stolen from their factory in a well organised and targeted theft, then dumped and burt. Very strange as why would they orgnaise to steal it and then dump it, were they expecting to find it full of cash!? Secondly, I hope the security guard got the sack!

Just a thought, if the government decided to give firearms to all UK officers, would they need to adjust fitness/eyesight requirements as I'm sure a large proportion won't meet the current firearms standard?

Hey all, So I'm a student officer at the moment and we've been doing a few scenarios recently where some students play the role of a suspect etc and you have to chat, search arrest etc. My issue is I keep forgetting to caution, I keep forgetting the necessity, and I'm being too easy on them when they kick off and giving too many chances. Mostly were arresting for either drugs, drunken disorderly or criminal damage, I was wondering what everyone would use as a necessity for these other than prompt and effective investigation? As we are all aware, if you enter the UK from a country not on the travel corridor list you are required to isolate for 14 days at home. I've been doing some research around this, as we have a holiday booked at the end of the year and I'm trying to figure out what to do. The gov website has the attached exemption in regards to police. Can anybody clarify, does this mean that a response cop is exempt from the isolation as they are required to engage in essential police work? If not, does anybody know where we stand as cops having to stay home for 14 days after a holiday? Is it to be taken as annual leave, sick leave, work from home or …

Police officers have to do driving courses as well as blue light training is this the same for PCSOs? as i know they get to use blue lights under some circumstances so are they just shown how to use it rather than actually going on blue light runs? seeing as PCSOs don't get involved in pursuits and advanced driving do they do not have to do any driver training at all? recently seen a PCSO stall his marked police car in a town centre so just curious and i'm not hating as there is people with 20 years driving experience who now and again stall manual cars, how come the police haven't gone full automatic? crazy how ambulances and police especially have to change gears while …

Anyone have any information on this latest idea from HMG? The Local Government Association sounds less-than-optimistic. Presumably legislation will be passed to give them powers, or they could be CSAS lot, or existing council officers?

Why do PCSOs, Court Officers, Escort Officers etc still not carry batons/incapacitant spray/cuffs (less courts/jails)? Can understand for police detention and council wardens etc, but with the CSOs and court officers still not carrying (and some of them suffering) why is this the case? Am I missing something obvious? What do other nations do?
