During my night shift I attended an RTC in which a car had been left abandoned in the middle of the road and has crashed into a parked car. When CCTV was checked, it’s shown that the vehicle has been left unlocked and someone passing the car has opened the car door, had a rummage around inside the car and then when finding nothing, has taken the handbrake off the car and allowed it roll down a hill into a parked car. my question is, does this require an RTC report for a fail to stop? Damage only incident with no injuries and the vehicle ignition was never switched on so in my mind I’m thinking it hasn’t technically been driven, just allowed to roll down the stre…

We're a fairly close knit community but in my opinion have a fairly large reach within the police community, the forum has thousands of members and is often the first stop for people looking to join the police. I often feel alot of good work within policing and the emergency services in general isn't recognised, yet many of us here are in a position to recognise hard graft that officers put into policing everyday with many retired officers being members of this very board. Is there any scope of Police Community being able to formally recognise officers for their hard work just as other private organisations do? I'm thinking more in line with RSPCA Certificates…

Today I've come in from work and found various images around social media and the mainstream media news outlets displaying images of protestors described as being members of "Forever Family Force" with apparent close ties to BLM movement. I've seen a lot of comments on FB and other social media about DCC Swan's hair. Comments were generally derogatory and very few were supportive. One point PCs kept making was that her hair doesn't fit with uniform standards for her force whilst others wondered how she wears her hat! Personally I don't think it fits with a uniformed service however it doesn't stop her doing her job which apparently she does very well.

The legislation requires threatening, abusive, insulting or disorderly behaviour to be used "within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress". So, it must be within the presence of other people and it doesn't have to necessarily be shown that they were caused HAD. What test do you therefore apply in evidencing that the persons nearby were 'likely' to have been caused HAD? Is it simply enough that members of the public were nearby? Do you consider the demographic of the people nearby ? Is it purely a question of the nature of the behaviour being displayed ?
