Really interested to know your experiences of paying into and using the Physio facilities at Flint House or the Police Treatment Centres in Harrogate and Scotland. There’s various ways of paying into them either through payroll, direct debit and via local Fed. Flint House has an outstanding reputation but I understand is busy, the Police Rehab Centres I hear are just as good but it’s apparently not easy to get a referral unless you’re willing to travel.

I'm interested in hearing the views of police officers who can give their view on it from the perspective of law enforcement. Saw this matter being touched on in another thread. On average how many malicious complaints do you get a year? And what are the motivations, do people make them just to be difficult or is there a strategic element where they think it will help their own case if they attack the officers credibility?

Good afternoon all. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. Not in the job any more and haven’t been for a while. I want to get back into investigations and was wondering if anyone had gone down the Trainee Investigator route with a police service. Hampshire police are recruiting at the moment and it’s something I’m interested in. I don’t want to be stuck on PIP1 forever and just want to know if PIP2 is even a realistic proposition. Has anyone heard of someone suing the IOPC for wrongful prosecution? I mean who makes sure they are doing their job properly, it seems like they are a law to themselves.

With BWV being so widely utilised by the Police in England and Wales, when members of the public, or suspects, make formal complaints against officers or post allegations on publicly available social media, which are demonstrably and unequivocally proven to be lies through BWV (or CCTV, 3rd party recordings etc), should the officers directly involved be allowed to sue for defamation in civil court and should the CC of each force be allowed to pursue legal action against the liars on behalf of the force? Bit of a random one but figured it'd be worth discussing. I'm sure we're all now well aware of 'Police auditing' and whilst my general reaction in dealing with them would be not to give them the time of day and simply ignore such groups I've noticed a trend where many really are pushing the boundaries of acceptable conduct and actively trespassing on police locations to try and cause a scene or disturbance, they're then refusing to leave when requested to do so. Trespass at commom law is a civil matter but a land owner or agent can use reasonable force in a persons removal... I came across a rather intriguing thing about American law recently. They are required to declare and pay tax on all income including money gained from illegal activity. Some people have successfully argued in court that if someone has an illegal source of income, being forced by law to confess that fact to a government agency violates their 5th Amendment right against self incrimination. As a result they now have a sort of compromise process, where as long as you declare any illegal income, the IRS is satisfied and will not alert the authorities to the fact you've committed a crime. Can police constables work off-duty in the UK (as a constable, not moonlighting as anything else) or is that strictly prohibited by law? I know that quite a few cops work off-duty, but am wondering whether private work is allowed, such as at large events, working as private security/private police? It is an interesting idea, but I genuinely don't know whether it's caught on in the UK.

Just wondering if anyone has secured legal cover through other means than the federation. Having spent some 5k in subs so far I am just considering the possibility of alternative means. A quick internet search shows legal cover about the place but I would imagine if it was great, a lot of people would use it

With the Diana statue being unveiled recently there was some talk about the crash and how paparazzi at the scene got into trouble for "failing to assist" which is a crime in France. I'm sure every right minded person would agree that in a situation like that there is a moral duty to assist if you are capable and it's safe to do so but is that backed up by legislation in the UK? I know there's a rarely used offence of failing to assist a constable, but what about failing to assist a random member of the public?
