Evening all! After some advice. I've been given a conditional offer as a PC with a start date in July. Im currently a Special. I've had a few people say its worth dropping my hours to avoid any complaints etc. Not that i go around trying to get complaints, but have a few from when ive dealt with a driver who didn't like i gave them a ticket. What are peoples views? Im leaning towards dropping my hours. Im above my minimum hours for the year already, so don't need to worry about that.

Hi everybody, I am currently going through recruitment with Merseyside Police. My BMI is just over 30 which they have as their maximum. However, I've heard that there is an exception relating to either body fat/muscle mass percentage. Something along the lines of under 30% body fat, etc. Does anyone know what the specific details are with regard to BMI? Especially with Merseyside Police. Regards, M

Hi guys, just signed up to the forum to see if anyone is in the same boat. I was a Met Officer for 11 years and resigned a few years ago......just going through rejoiner application and now in the vetting stage. Vetting seems to be taking a while though, I think they got my forms end of Jan and apparently was still only in the early stages on 22nd March! Anyone else been waiting ages for vetting too? I’ve no idea how long I will be at Hendon for before I’m posted on BCU either!

Hi I am currently undergoing the vetting procedure, and have out of the blue received an email asking to disclose information about my relationship status. I have a girlfriend who lives in another country. Any idea if this might be a conflict/issue? I have disclosed all information honestly about my relationship in reply, just wondering? Thanks

Afternoon all, I am currently waiting for an available day to do my Day 2 but I am wondering if I should hold off for a couple of months. The reason being is that I am currently moving house and job which is going to put me in some financial difficulties, as in a very nice negative in my bank account level of financial difficulties, but nothing as bad as missing payments on things or anything. This will only be for a couple of months and and then I should be back in good financial health. So my question is: should I hold off on booking my day 2 for a couple of months until I get my finances back on track, or does vetting take a long time to get started anyway so…

Hi All, Received an offer to join Police Scotland starting in June providing I pass my medical next week. 2 and a half years ago I had a loss of consciousness episode and recovered incredibly well after an admission in hospital. I have a massive audit trail of all various reports which includes a note from my GP. From looking at different posts on here I understand that mostly, OH will review all cases on a case by case basis. The doctors cannot fully rule out a seizure (evidence very much points away from epilepsy and I wasn't diagnosed with anything or medication) however understandably this bothers me. In general, what are the guidelines on seizures and epis…

Hello, The dream has come a crushing end. I had hoped to pass this time and join the police. I had dreams and aspirations but it was not meant to be. I have been in shock these 2 days. I had made 2 attempts on the SET before and failed badly. This time, I was better but it was not enough, funnily enough I had passed my maths during my last attempt, so I only had to resit 2 papers. I was in the process of moving home and had to juggle moving and also studying. It is no excuse however. I have been keeping myself with the house moving, so I have not had time to sit and cry basically lol. I am honestly in such disbelief, I left the test centre with high hopes and w…

Hi all - I’ve recently completed my probation period with West Midlands Police and within the next 2 years will look to relocate back where my family live (Surrey), and will apply for a transfer. I know very little about transferring at present, so looking for some info. I am booked on to undertake my taser x26 course in December this year, and just awaiting a date for my response driving course and PO level II. Does anyone know whether we can take these tickets with us when we transfer or will we lose this and have to retrain with our new force all over again to obtain these? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I was due to start as an FCR Comms officer in September subject to references. Unfortunately, I received the following email They say it is not their practice to disclose the reason for failure. There must be an appeals process to follow but no details are given. I am going to request the references by invoking the Freedom of Information act and go on from there. Thanks

Good afternoon, This may seem like a strange one. Yesterday I had some severe back pain and accidentally took a dose of morphine after asking my partner to get me some painkillers, we tend to use oral solutions for paracetamol as she doesn't like tablets and I hardly ever take painkillers. She has Morphine prescribed for her for something else. Long story short, I took the wrong one. I've recently applied for my local force and although I am months away from the drug screening stage, if I even get that far, I'm now freaking out. Am I worrying for nothing? I am a healthcare professional already so this makes me feel even more silly. I can assure everyone that I…

Hi, does anyone know if you are at the vetting/medical stage and have been unlucky enough to get an injury which requires surgery... Would they be able to defer the next stage for a while until medically fit? Or would they have to withdraw you? Thanks!

Good evening folks, Just after Christmas I applied to my local force for the position of regular officer, I'm still going through paper sift however I have heard that another force will soon be coming up (within the next 2 weeks) that I would prefer to join, if I withdraw my current application so that I can join the other force when they take applications will that look bad to the new force? I only ask as the forces in question have linked their HR teams to make light work of the many applications they receive. I should add that at the start of last year I passed all my tests and interview however due to personal matters I had to withdraw my application. …

Hi, the force I have applied for states 28 days sick maximum in the last year. I have never been off sick every until last year where I was off not much more but over 28 days due to an injury which meant I couldn’t walk for a period of time. Do the police take certain things into consideration or Is it if you have excoeeded then you aren’t eligible? Of course when I initially applied I hadn’t had any periods of sick now I am at vetting stage it would be a real shame to fail due to this! Also silly question maybe but If you work mon-Friday would you count the weekend as sick days or only the days in which you would be at work? Thanks
