I have recently passed all the selection process for a police officer and now I need to make the difficult decision on what to do now. Joining the Police has always been an ambition but in my 20s I wasn't able to pass the selection centre. I currently work in IT working 9-5 Monday to Friday with good benefits including 48 days annual leave and a good pension. Joining the police would also see my salary drop by 50% but after 20 years in IT the passion is not the same as it once was and I now feel this is my last opportunity to follow my dreams of joining the police. My main concern is the protental impact on my family, I love my wife to bits who I have been with …

Hi guys, I've recently applied to join Cheshire, passed everything around 5 months ago and provided my vetting forms straight away. My concern is that is taking an extremely long time, I appreciate that Covid19 has slowed things down for everyone. I was wondering if this could be a sign of any concerns from the vetting team? They ran a credit search on me at the end of September which I can see on my file, but still no word. Is it literally a case of no news is good news or is this a bad sign?

Hello I am in the process of waiting for my results on my application. Question that I have is how many weekends would you work on response in a typical month ? I’m coming from a normal 9-5 Monday to Friday job and trying to get my head around potential shifts. Some say you work no more than 4 days in a row then have 4 off? Any comments would be great Thanks

Anyone that has done the bleep test as part of the recruitment process lately in England....do they stop you when you have reached 5:4 or do you carry on as far as you can? Do they record your actual result or is it just a pass or fail that is recorded? Thanks.

Hi I am in the process of applying to Cambridgeshire police. I’m reaching 40 so have decided to take the leap and go for it going to be a frantic change from working 9-5 Monday to Friday. Question I have is can you transfer a private pension pot into your police pension ?

Hi folks. Posted this on the Police Scotland forum but thought I might get advice from people down South etc as they could be in a similar position. Basically what I want to know is - how far do people commute from home to work as a Police Officer and how do you find it? How long would be too long to commute? Thanks.

Hey all, I was fortunate enough to pass all stage of recruitment for a UK police service, I had my provisional offer and I believe I passed vetting, I was booked in for uniform fitting and was awaiting medical dates however I received an email with a letter from the chief superintendent telling me that while I passed all aspects I didn’t excel just enough so my offer was now being rejected. Has anyone ever heard of this happen to anyone before? I’m so confused about it.

Hi everyone. I'm trying to get opinions/experience of police Scotland vetting. I got my provisional offer back in March. However it was the week before covid-19 lockdown and therefore no medical was booked, drug test done and I have had no comments regarding my vetting at this stage. I appreciate vetting can take a while and given the current climate it has delayed matters. However I do feel 3 months is an excessive amount of time to hear anything from them. I have a minor assault charge from May 2015 which I pled guilty to in court. Received a £100 fine. This was as a result of a drunken altercation and was a one off. I've never had any other contact …

Hello Ive been through the SEARCH assesment and final interview and been successful. Been feeling pretty pleased with myself and now with the vetting upon me im starting to panic and thinking im kidding myself. I know ill be good at this given the chance but now im thinking it wont happen. With the financial checks i dont have a good credit rating due to various defaults from around a year and a half ago. Im paying them back and dont have aby ccjs. I am in a DMP. Is this going to be the massive problem that im worried it will be. On top of that i have my medical phone call (due to covid) in two days. Ive been on a mild dose of anti depressants for a couple of y…

Hi everybody, Everything went well with my medical apart from the hearing test results that I had category 2 (mild) deafness in both ears. The force that I applied to have said that it shouldn't be a problem. However, when it come to signing off the form as "fit for role" she hesitated and said that she'll do it later. Is this something I should be worried about or is it a general rule for them not to sign you off in front if you? M

Hello all. I am in the process of applying for the police and am at the shortlisting stage. I have a underlying health issue that has never impacted my life but am now considered to be in the high risk group (not vulnerable) for coronavirus. It is my dream to join the police and I would be gutted if this stopped me. Does anyone have any experience of working in the police whilst being in the high risk group? Cheers Dan
