Hello, I have made it to the Medical for my application, but currently my BMI is 30.4 so just above what is required. How strick is this? I am still trying to lose weight. I have lost 3 stone in about a year, but struggling to shift more. I go to the gym regularly and run 3 times a week so the fitness side if things are no problem. I did fall under the 30 BMI but my muscle mass has increased since joining the gym. Will this small amount be an issue.

Hi all, I am considering making an application to Humberside Police and just wanted to connect with servicing police offices with young families. I ideally want to ask how the role impacts you home life and the work life balance. Any advise, support and guidance would be greatly received.

Hello, After completing all aspects of the recruitment process, I have been advised my application has failed at the last hurdle. Due to a some unexpected and unavoidable outgoing's I missed some payments to Credit Cards and Loans. I have spoken to all concerned and agreed reduced repayments to avoid it all spiralling out of control. I have now been advised that my application has been terminated due to this. My income and expenditure show disposable income and also my position will improve going forwards with a reduction in some bills. I have no bankruptcy, IVA, Defaults etc, just missed payments, which are being sorted. I have appealed the decision, …

Dear all, New to this forum, just want some advice from anyone serving in the MET or someone who have transferred and can just shed some light on the experience? I am a serving officer just out of my probation with another H.O force. I am particularly keen to consider Islington. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I applied for the MET back in November and am still waiting to hear back regarding my vetting, although I assume this delay happens across all districts. My day 2 finished was in January and I was told on the day that I had passed with no issues. I have also been informed by recruitment that my vetting is finished with them and it's now off to the MET, and my DNA etc has all passed However, I was told on my day 2 that everything should be done within 4/6 weeks but it's now been nearly 5 months. I have put it down to COVID but I'm worrying that something is wrong. I have called recruitment but they keep telling me it will be another 4/6 weeks. …

Good afternoon all, Unfortunately today I had the dreadful news that after a 15 months in the recruitment process I’ve been withdrawn as a result of an unsuccessful attempt to overturn my vetting status. My main sponsor is a DS and was fairly confident of overturning the original decision due to the nature of the minor offence (4 years ago) and my grounds for appeal. I am still so keen to do everything I can to get myself in, does anyone know if I have any options to appeal the appeal decision? I know it’s a long shot but I’d toyed with the idea of speaking to my local MP, would this be worth a go?

Two questions can you transfer before probation is over? and if you transfer to another force am I correct in thinking you have to do the whole recruitment process all over again the same as a civilian off the street applying? So have to go to an assessment day and have 2 interviews then medical, fitness, vetting etc etc even though you are a current serving police officer?

Lancashire are opening up a direct entry detective track on 16th March 2020. This isn't Police Now either, it is being run by the force. https://www.lancashire.police.uk/join-us/police-officer-roles/detective-entry-programme/ Also It is being run alongside the standard Detective Pathway, so no regulars will be sidelined for this.

Hi all just a quick question is overtime available as a new starter or is this frowned upon? Is overtime paid automatically based on finished time or do you need to claim for it manually and do you get the choice whether it is paid or toil? Thanks in advance.

I was medically deffered for two weeks due to high level of ketones in my urine sample, due to low carb diet which I have disclosed it beforehand. Recruitment team is aware of that and two weeks has passed since without any updates. I don't really want to call recruitment as they're extremely busy and I'm sure they have seen my email. That's the only thing left to be 'ticked' as I've passed everything else which is really frustrating. Have anyone been or know someone who has been in similar situation with such a short deferral period ? I've browsed through the forum but only found posts about people being deffered for 3+ months. Would I have to attend OC just t…

Hi All, I few months ago, stupidly I tried a CDB oil from Holland & Barrett (Jacob Hooy) brand on one occasion only, from doing research it's a hemp based product with none or minimal THC content. My concern is that this will come back as a fail on my recent drug screening. What would your thoughts be ?

So next week I have my final test! The bleep test. Everything else is done and passed. This is the last thing in my way. Once passed I'll be put on to intake. I'm worried sick I'm not going to pass. I've been going to the gym for the last 2 weeks and this is all I'm achieving so far. I don't know if it's going to cut it? Before joining the gym I could only get to level 3. I won't do anymore tests at home as Im worried for the result.
