There appears to be quite a few forces out there that are open for transferees at Constable level at the moment. As recruitment for PCs looks like it is starting picking up, its a timely topic as transferees offer a quick, cheap and easy way to get experienced officers into a force without the need to provide the costly basic training. So, has anybody on here ever transferred forces? Can you tell us about your experience of going through the process? What was it like? Why did you choose to transfer? Were the forces significantly different and what sort of impact did that make? What was it like knowing how to do the job on the street, but not knowing the area, th…

So, Iโ€™m due to start my IPLDP in May and Iโ€™m really blimmin excited, if not a little nervous too. Just looking for some advice from people who have been through the program or who currently are going through it. Are there any books which will be useful through the process? What kind of format and work can I expect day to day, particularly on the first day? When is it decided which force area you will be posted to to work in day to day after training? Do you get to suggest areas that are most feasible for your travelling wise or is it a โ€˜get what youโ€™re givenโ€™ scenario? I realise this will likely vary from force to force but any insigh…

Hi All, Finding this forum very useful as I'm just beginning my journey through the application process and it's so good to see people willing to offer their experiences etc. My query is of a vetting nature I'm afraid (I know there's a fair few floating around), I'd just like to know of any success stories of people who have a similar case as mine. As the thread name suggests I recieved a Juvenile Reprimand in 2008 for Theft (aged 15). Has anyone else had their vetting cleared with a similar history? This is the only dealing I've had with the police but, for obvious reasons, it's bothering me. Although the guidelines don't necessarily state it's a definite rejec…

Good morning, Iโ€™m considering applying to West Midlands Police but have noticed they now require a route of training while studying to achieve either a Degree or a Graduate Diploma in Policing. This is the first time Iโ€™ve seen this entry route personally from a force but my question is generally with regards to the starting pay as the force website is a bit vague stating that the pay starts between ยฃ18,000-ยฃ23,124 and upon contacting the recruitment team, they donโ€™t appear to know but have told me to assume it would be the lower end as I would be starting as an apprentice, should my application be successful. Has anyone ever joined via this route? I persona…

Hi guys, I have my final interview coming up in a few days time and im in a dilemma as to what to wear.. The communication states ''business dress or uniform''. Im a currently serving Spc Sgt with same force so thought turning up in my uniform with epaulets would show my current position and my respect for the uniform and the force...i also feel id probably feel more at ease/relaxed on the day too...but im back and forth on this and wondered what you guys thought? thanks

First of all, thank you for reading. I appreciate all you guys and girls do for us. :) I used to be a special constable but sadly developed PTSD after a pretty intense situation I became involved in off-duty. I had to leave the Met but loved being a special and hoped to join as a PC. I have been sectioned twice since the incident and am on anti-psychotic pills that I take daily (I had intense psychotic episodes). I have been free of symptoms for a year now and I am gradually gaining the confidence to look at rejoining in some capacity. I will speak to my mental health team and if they give the go ahead I would love to talk this through with my services OH healt…

Good Afternoon Guys, I hope someone on here can help, so I attended a final interview back in November of last year to be told I had passed the final interview but unfortunately couldn't guarantee me an intake as there wasn't enough vacancies. they have advised that should a place open up on the intakes planned for this year or any further intakes my application could be fast tracked to pre employment stages etc. They have advised on keeping my application on hold for a minimum of 12 months, what I want to know is it worth to do so or look to apply for another force if recruitment opens? has anyone had any success with this? and also what is required for my application…

Hello, I passed my final interview on Friday for my local force and was sent forms to complete etc. I had my eyes tested today and I have excellent vision, passed with the test easily. However, I am slightly colourblind, not monochromism (instant fail), just couldnโ€™t see the occasional number in the clusters. I am also a serving PCSO for the same force Iโ€™ve applied to and my deficiency has not hindered me at all. Are there officers who are colourblind? Will I have to do further eyesight tests with occupational health? Iโ€™d be gutted if I failed because of something out of my control and incurable! Please can I ask for peopleโ€™s thoughts and experien…

Hi all, I attended the AC and scored quite highly overall. However, I failed my final interview [emoji21]. I'm just wondering if anyone on here has failed a final interview and then transferred their score without having to wait six months? I'm particularly interested to hear if North Wales Police allow you to do this? TIA

Hi guys, I completed my day 2 assesment on the 6th of september and was successful. I reccieved and email today (20/10/2017) that unfortunatly I had not passed my pre-employment checks. There was no reason given to me, however I did reccieve a criminal record over 6 years ago when I was a juvinile, I assume this is the reason for rejection. I have been honest throughout my application and gave details of my past on both the original application and the vetting form. As you can imagine I am very dissapointed at this decision as I had got so far and if I have been rejected for something that they had known about since the start will be disheartening. …

Hello! I havenโ€™t seen a thread for the June intake yet so I thought I would start one for those going in just over 4 weeks! It would be good to speak to a few people before heading down to Tully ๐Ÿ™‚ Introduce yourself.....
