Hi all, Hoping for some advice as im going crazy with worry. I have been given a conditional offer with a start date. I am fairly estranged from my father but was able to obtain that in the 1990s he recieved a caution for insuranse fraud. In 1990s he was investigated for handling stolen goods but was released with no further action. Around 10 years ago he recieved an £80 fine for shoplifting Around 2 years ago he was arrested for a domestic related offence and was released with no further action. I am unsure of his current address and gave them his last known address. I don't live in the same county as him and we do not have m…

So... after recently leaving policing in March, i took steps and re-entered for a final force interview today. I was asked to draw on previous knowledge/experiences. During this time to broke down into tears several times when recalling two past incidents in question and the action i undertook. (This is hugely unlike me and it came across overwhelmingly out the blue). During the interview i felt rather mixed responses, that of positive from one interviewer (Both active ranks); with the other more senior ranking officer coming across quite emotionless. Any thoughts in relation to this ? I felt quite emotionally drained leaving the intervie…

Good evening all, I recently passed the Met Police Sergeants process (externally) and now going through the motions of transferring across. Vetting has gone off which is the last thing to be done - anyone else transferred to the Met recently - be it on promotion or otherwise? What were your timescales? I’m hoping vetting won’t take too long as I already hold clearance and have done for the last 9 years (as a Special / PC in the Met / PC in West Yorkshire).

Hi all, First post on here so thanks in advance for reading my query. I'm not looking for any sympathy for what I am about to post - I fully recognise this is my own doing and am only after some advice from anyone in the know, or has experience. The consequences will be fair and whatever the outcome I will have no complaints, but I would like some clarity. I have the assessment day for Surrey Police in just under 2 weeks. It has always been an ambition of mine to join the Police and I am very much looking forward to the day. However, I was caught speeding last weekend (36mph in a 30 on a fixed speed camera) and I currently have outstanding 3 points …

Hi everyone, new to the forum my name is Cai. I’m currently in the process of joining BTP and have a few questions about the vetting process which are concerning me for a number of reasons. - are defaulted credit files an instant bar to entry? I was very irresponsible when I was a late teen and defaulted on a number of accounts. All paid off now and this was a number of years ago now, as I’m 25 now. I don’t have any current debts to anyone and haven’t had for years. -my mum who I currently live with (I plan on moving out if I get in) has a conviction for possession of cannabis in 1985, I’ve been completely honest and I’ve put it down on the vetting form. …

Hi everybody, I am not sure how true this is, I've heard that there are police services within the UK that don't do a final interview. Does anyone know any services that don't do the final interview after the SEARCH Assessment? Thank you, M

Hi everybody, I have recently received my results for my SEARCH Assessment. I failed again on the roleplay's. I haven't a clue what's wrong with me. This is the second time that I have failed due to the roleplay's. I deal with real conflict and problem solving on a daily basis but when it comes to the roleplay's I struggle. I've got six months until I can apply again. Does anyone have any advice in passing the roleplay's? I have been looking at going on a course, can anyone recommend one? Regards, M

Hi, has anyone ever had an conditonal offer? Before I went through my pre-employment checks I was given a conditional offer to sign with the clause that it was only valid if I were successful with my pre-employment checks (which I completed recently) I guess what I want to know is what was the point of the conditional offer? It stated it was not an offer of employment and it seems obvious that I would have needed to pass the other stages in order to recieve an offer. So im completely baffled with the point of a conditional offer. Would it be only to show my commitment? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.

Hi, I’ve had a start date of 27th August in the Metropolitan Police London. I’m in the process of looking where I can stay, does anyone want to share a house/flat. Or if anyone has any information on where to stay it would be great. Thank you.

So I had my final interview this week. I answered all questions and the main interviewer in the room said I had obviously researched and knew stuff well. I was sent out for 15 minutes after. Then I was called back in and told by the same man I had failed because I didn't know enough on current affairs. I was gob smacked. He told me to come back in 18 months! Not even 6 months! It took me 5 years of setbacks with assessments etc to get to that point of interview. I spoke to my friend who just got into the same force and she was asked the same question. She never even answered that question but passed. How is that even possible?! I am now going to try and transfer my asseme…

Hi all, I have recently passed my Day One with the Met and have been invited to Day Two and have been given some forms to complete prior to attending. On the vetting form I disclosed that back in 2014 (5 years ago when I was 18), that I had a small amount of cannabis confiscated from me in Italy by the police. As possession in Italy is decriminalised, no action was taken and I was aloud to go free, although I am unsure if this was recorded. I chose to declare this as I am completely in the dark on if this would show up in the vetting process and wanted to be 100% truthful. Would anyone know if this would lead to me being refused vetting clearance and if ye…

Hello everyone, I have recently applied for one of my local forces in November and it is currently still in the sitting process. Another local force has recently opened recruitment and I was wondering can I apply here too? I know you can't sit two SEARCH centres in six months. I sat one last January. Cheers.
