Want to get other people's advice / experience in dealing with mobile phone offences. I was out with a lesser experienced officer the other day, and we were stopped by a member of the public accusing someone else of using their mobile phone whilst driving. I had not seen the driver using the mobile phone nor was it anywhere to be seen when we had stopped the driver. I chose to deal with her by way of discussing the situation and that we had to be seen to be doing something as we had been stopped by a member of the public and he followed us! I have always used the process that we can only ever ask to look at the mobile phone in the event of there being an RTC and it is …

Hey guys, I have done a search for this and, much to my surprise, I don't seem to be able to find and up-to-date answer on it. I've got my Assessment Day for the Met Specials next week and I'm really looking forward to it. I applied to be a Reg and was successful on my Day 1 but decided to withdraw as I realised i wasn't quite ready to end my current career. Now, in order to get a better feel for the job, I've applied to the Specials and hope to give a year or so to feel it out. The one barrier for me is the training. Due to my current job I can't do the Saturday or Sunday option so the intensive option seems like the best one for me. However, I'm really struggling to …

Should be moving off PACs soon onto SOROC and wanted to get a rough idea of what's involved? How many arrests, vehicle searches, witness statements, etc. etc? If someone who's done it could outline the total requirements for me that would be great. I appreciate it's when something is done competently it gets signed off and not just that it's been done. Thanks.

Hello all, I am just taking a couple months break before I start again with the met specials but I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on working for the DPG. I highly doubt that you can join the DPG as a special but I heard someone talking about it. If I was to go through the regular route to become a special, what do you reckon would be the best way for me to go through this, in terms of ladder progression. I have a degree international relations and can speak another language so maybe this will come in handy. All the best,

Hi, I have my assessment day for joining the Metropolitan force specials in 2 weeks or so and had a few questions. 1) Does anyone have any advice about the interview? I know I need to answer questions on the 3 Driver Areas but will there be other general questions? Does anyone know how many questions there will be on each driver area? 2) Is the fitness test only the bleep test or does it still include the push/pull test? I am very nervous about this bit. 3) Regarding the vetting form that we complete after the assessment day- I've tried to open this on my Mac and on other non-Mac computers but even after updating the Adobe Reader on all of the computers it will not op…

Hello Met Officers... To gain access to The Writing Room; you need to A) Be a warranted Special Constable or a Police Constable (i.e. you have attested and been given a warrant card) with the Metropolitan Police. B) You then need to send a PM to Dragonfly In the PM you will need to include: Your Name and Metropolitan Police e-mail address I will then email you at your Police e-mail address. Once you receive that e-mail on your Police e-mail - you will need to reply to that email from your MetPol email address. Once I have a reply from your police email address, I will provide you with the password to the MSC Writing Room and, if you don't already have it, access to …
