I'm a year in as Special with the Met and would like to join the Regulars. In my borough most Specials become Regulars by clocking up loads of hours in a short space, getting IPS and applying to the Regulars. I can't do this due to work / life commitments so I assumed if I completed the CKP I could apply should recruitment start up again. I asked Met recruitment if this was possible but was told I would have to quit the Specials if I wanted to apply for Regulars down the CKP route.. but it could go against me if I quit. I don't want to quit the Specials, it's great experience and was such a long process to get in. Does this sound right? Once you've a Special then thi…

Hi I have been invited to attend an induction meeting at new Scotland yard, it is starting quite late (around 6:30pm) and finishes around 8pm. What exactly will happen in this short space of time? Thanks

Is there anyone here working in the camden borough? I just recently checked MSC online and was shocked to see no NPT shift were put in as regular with ERT shifts. To complete my hours i have now signed up for ERT even though i am not IPS so just wanted to know if there was any reason for this ommitence. I've done quite a few NPT shifts and found them really useful to build up my writing and reporting skills as well as public interaction with my assigned borough and ward.

I'm not IPS yet as working full-time in a demanding industry and having a family life means I tend to do around 20 hours a month or just over the minimum requirement. I've recently been offered a really exciting job in Germany, which would mean moving from London probably for a few years. As I'm not IPS taking a career break isn't really an option. If I left London and have to resign and then came back to London in say 4 or 5 years I can't help wondering if (at nearly 50 in 4 or 5 years time, eek!) I'd really want to go through the training all over again and join up again. It just seems lik…
