I'm sorry, I'm not sure where is best to post this. I am about to start my training as a Special with TVP, I want to write a letter to two current serving officers who helped me a lot through the application process, I'm just wondering how I should sign it off? Should I put my shoulder number, my Station? How do sign off letters/e-mails? What information do you put?

I am sure this has been mentioned before, however I am off at the moment and was looking to approach a company that do medal ties similar to the gsm. Would there be any interest in this tie. If so I can made contact and get aome prices etc. I was thinking along the lines of the medal ribbon repeating on the tie. I am open to suggestions.

I went out on my first patrol with my partner and I have discovered that people do not surrender when you show your badge? Bare in mind that I was not in uniform. The suspect in question started throwing profanities at me; I had warned this person that if they did not desist and leave the area. I would have to arrest them under Section 4 public order offence. The suspect just laughed; I asked the supervising officer whether an arrest was appropriate under S4 and he told me that it wasn't the right situation?? Suspect was causing a scenen in public and I'm not allowed to arrest him; using words like c*** and W*****. Someone please explain this to me MSC Officer Willia…

Afternoon, I am new to the site hoping to pick up good tips from other Regulars and Specials. I am looking for any step by step guides for taking forensic Samples - an idiots guide of sorts. The type of things I'm referring to specifically are: 1) Hand Swabs 2) Dna from mouth 3) Hair samples for glass and such like like 4) Fingernails Anyone got any advice or official guides? I know that the collection kits have directions in them but not really an idiots guide..my initial training course didn't really cover this stuff. Thanks

I've just been watching the very impressive Trooping the Colour event on TV. Immaculate, as always. The commentators went to great lengths to quite rightly heap praise on the guardsmen and made specific mention of those standing lining the parade route. They described it as the worst role of the day but there was absolutely no comments about the poor police officers who have to undertake the same role! One of the commentary team, who must have been a police officer in his young days, told a story of how he remembers trying, very discreetly, to pop a mint into a guardsman's mouth to assist him - that's amazing! Has anyone had to carry out a similar chore - or what other…
