Hi all, Admin if this in the wrong area please feel free to move it into the kit corner!! Recently started as a special with A&S at the induction the recommended boots with out a steel toe cap, while when I was serving in a different role with Gwent when they issued boots they issued standard steel toe caps magnums and als boots!! I allready bought my boots and pulled them up to a high standard a few weeks ago when I had the money todo so! Which are the magnums stealth 8.0 steel toe caps! Is their a specific reason to it as bulling on a steel toe cap gives a better result and I strangely find steel toe caps more comfortable than boots with out!! Why is the…

Do you have any sort of sleep schedule around your shifts, and if so how does it work for you? Ie. do you have something structured, same hours more or less every night, or just a case of sleeping as and when you're tired?

I have recently completed my training as a Special Constable and will be starting within my division shortly. I was just wondering how do the public react to you when you tell them your a special constable? I have not been given any guidance from training school in relation to how I should identify myself when dealing with the public (i.e. whether to introduce myself as "S.C. 1234 Jones" or "P.C. 1234 Jones.") I know specials calling themselves "PCs" is a contentious subject with the Regulars, but my concern is that if your advertising the fact your a special when dealing with the public this may attract abuse and result in people being less likely to co-operate.... no…

Just stumbled across this whilst watching some informative Airwaves vids online... Not sure what to make of it to be honest! Found the following website with supposed testimonials: http://www.tetrawatch.net/ And this interview with the "Scientist" that originally published the report making cancer claims: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUc2DG9Cl64 Thoughts?

Came across one of these the other night. Seems to be a twist on the Freeman on the Land thing. Called Lioness Law http://www.thelioness.co.uk/ I particularly liked her warnings which effectively say, pay me £20 and you're on your own. So basically I am starting my special constable training tomorrow and was informed on my induction that we have an exam at the end. I'm not good with exams, much prefer role play or assessments but is there anybody who can shed light on what the exams are like and if it's difficult? I'm determined to work hard for this I don't want to get thorough it all and fail the exam. Cheers

So let's say some little scallywags are outside a shop and ask someone to buy cigarettes for them because they are blatantly under the age to purchase themselves. What offence is being committed by them (if any)? What offence is being committed by the purchaser (if any) having reason to believe they are under the age to buy them? Feel free to move to "Scenario" area but I'm interested in the responses, Act's specific or what people would do in this situation. Obviously "avoid like the plague" if can be helped but if FPN, they can't be issued as under the age? RSVP :D

Bit of a random question... but if your on duty and you end up with blood / bodily fluid, excrement etc (obviously not your own!! lol) on your uniform, are you expected to use your own washing machine at home to clean it or do you just discard it and order a replacement?! Im not too sure if I'd be too keen on the idea of using my washing machine... who knows what diseases some of the undesirables we have to deal with are carrying. Surely things like E-coli are a contamination risk - even after the washer has finished its cycle?!
