hi all I start my Sc training with A&S in September along with Boris! and have my induction morning on the 23rd of this mouth! What's best to wear causl jeans and a t shirt Or shirt and tie! Which can be seen in the A&S Twitter page on their last starting course!! I'm swaying to shirt and tie!! To be smart and make a good impression any help would be great full!! Cheers Dan!!

Hello, Some may say apples and oranges I guess, but I'm trying to weigh up if I'd rather join the RMP reserves or a HO force as a special! I'll probably be very lucky to get somebody who has done both but any input is hugely appreciated! I know as an RMP reserve you can be asked to walk the beat of an Army town on a weekend evening etc, but aside from deploying (which I am open to in a few years) and the training weekends etc I was wondering how much police like work an RMP reserve could find themselves doing? I actually understand the role of a special more, I know you have the differences but I believe it's more alike a full time constable than an RMP reserve will …

Hi, Does anybody know the average age of recruits who join the police force, I am 27 and although I wish I have joined earlier I am just wondering if my age my hinder my career progression in the force compared to somebody who joins at 18 for example Regards Martin

A friend of mine has recently received a summons to appear at the Mags court after being caught on a laser in Richmond Park at 35mph. Now as a regular operator of a speed gun in my force I am aghast at this. (1): How does the cyclist know what speed they are going (downhill) as they don't have a speedo. (2): Yes the speed limit is 20mph but this is for cars. (3): Surely if anything he'd be sent on a speed awareness course or sent an FPN (4): There is no such offence as speeding on a bicycle. The only offence is careless cycling and this was not the offence. (5): The offence is a Parks bylaw but surely words of advice or an FPN would suffice... Not summons to the Mag…

What on Earth are you going on about? No one has anything against the Nordic people. Again, back on the "woe is me" bandwagon. Get off of it and read the news. Those languages are the ones the Metropolitan Police are expecting new PC recruits to have as an additional language. It's been very well reported in the national press. The NPIA (National Policing Improvement Agency) has in January 2011 published revised guidance to Chief Constables about restricted occupations, i.e. those occupations held by potential Specials which may make them ineligible.
