General Policing Discussions

Hey PS! Coder here, again... Anyway, I was always interested on how you get promoted in the Police Force, in particular the Specials. Is it based on the amount of time served or the amount of (good?) work you've put in. I think it would be such a proud and amazing moment when you get promoted, and you feel that you've earned that and not just recieved it. So, how would you get promoted within the Special Constabulary? Thanks!

Hello, Can anybody who has taken the exam in recent years confirm for me, are you allowed to make notes on the question paper (eg: highlight important points such as 'indictable', which of the following is 'correct'...)? Cheers. Good luck to anyone else taking the exam on Tuesday! MN.

Hello, Quick question - something at the back of my mind tells me that Police Officers (so I'm including Special Constables in that) cannot join a union. My employer has offered to join Unite so I was wondering whether as a (soon to be) Special Constable, is there any restriction on me joining should I wish? Thanks

I hate to say it but injuries are part of the job however much we try to protect ourselves. So what were peoples first injury whilst on duty?
