A quick query. I'm an SC in the met, attesting in May. I was wondering about stop and search where the searchee walks/runs away after he's been informed that he's been detained and before the search has been completed. Assuming the officer catches up with him, is there a power of arrest for running off, or is it a matter of using reasonable force to ensure he's safely detained, searching as normal and then arresting/letting him go accordingly?

Hi all. Just received my first citation after specialling for 2 years. It happened 2 months after I started active duty, I was neighboured with a cop who didn't want to speak to me all shift and took no interest in what I was writing, and therefore my notes are total rubbish. I accidentally wrote a date instead of the time (brain must have been flopping about outside the window) and I wrote the wrong offence (must have assumed 2 words were used interchangeably). Hi, I thought I would query something with you all as I cannot find the answer anywhere. When officers are presenting to custody sergeants I often hear them give the necessities "to prevent further offences" and "to impose bail conditions". Can these be used as they're not covered in 24(5) of PACE?

I've already completed my first weekend of classroom training. A lot to absorb and it's very interesting and I can't wait to go back next weekend! At the end of the training (and before attestation) there is an exam. How many of you have already taken the exam? How long is the exam and what kind of format is it in? Question and answer, multiple choice, scenario based? Thanks

I'm soon to be starting as a special - I also teach a core subject (so lots of students) at a very large secondary school. Anyone have any advice on this? Do you tell your employer? Do you tell students (openly)? Have you ever been called upon when the school deals with matters that may require police involvement? Thanks,

As a hopeful applicant, I appreciate this may be covered in training (if successful) so I apologise if the topic is 'obvious'. As my only experiences are those on television and a couple of anecdotes from those I know who serve I am still a little unsure as to what the process is for Special Constables appearing in court. I've been scanning through the 'What I did on Duty' topic, which has been absolutely fascinating. However, I have not yet seen any mention of '09:00 - Arrive in court'. Watching the election coverage and SNP's whitewash there is talk of Scotland being offered some sort of federalism which clearly would also affect England and Wales, but what effect if any do you see it having on policing either side of the border?

get called to a job and the suspect/victim/witness etc is someone you know, what happens from then? Always been curious about this.
