I know there has been the odd topic on this in the past but I thought I'd start my own rather than try and throw up a load of dead topics. I used to have some involvement with my local Lodge via my previous profession in that I used to attend functions as a guest of my firm, with a view to it being a good opportunity to mix with other firms and professionals in the area. Since leaving and joining the Job I've not had anything else to do with Masonry, however I did used to enjoy the functions and saw the charitable and community benefits of what they did. Now I know it's a bit of a touchy subject mixing the Police with such a 'secret society' (though I'm aware the imag…

Something I've wondered, but since the last time it happened was before I was born I don't know the answer, even if it might be an obvious one. When the Monarch dies what's the situation surrounding cap badges etc. are they recalled on mass and ones with the new crown (assuming a change of gender) issued or is it done on an ad-hoc basis as an when stocks of them become available? Obviously in years gone by when it happened embroidered patches on body armour weren't an issue, neither were vehicle logos, warrant cards etc. It's a huge logistical task, and I wonder how long it'd take to switch over- what is deemed a suitable period to be wearing "old" uniform.

As per this thread, the Home Secretary has said she is accepting the Winsor Report, as amended by the Police Arbitration Panel, in full. I assume this means that the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, currently awarded to SCs with 9 years service (and good conduct obviously) will now be awarded to SCs after five years. Personally I feel this devalues it considerably, as currently it's only held by a minority of Specials, whereas now a sizeable number of SCs will become eligible. Please vote!

Hi everyone, I've almost finished my initial training, swearing-in ceremony is coming up soon! I'm beginning to think about my first shift, would like to go out on duty on a Friday night, which is the night after I'm sworn in. Wouldn't want to leave it too long and start forgetting things! Training has been great so far, loved every minute of it. I was just wondering, what was your first arrest as a Special? How did it feel? And also, how long was it after you were sworn in to you making your first arrest? Thank you for any feedback

Hi I've have just come to the question on my vetting form, have you ever had any disciplinarys in a previous work environment weather it being paid or unpaid. Unfortunately I have. Will I get a no from the police if I have? Thanks
