I can not find this answer anywhere on this site and I am sorry if I am mistaken. Just a quick question, can Specials police football matches? or is it different for each force? (I will be lancs) It will be great if someone could answer this as it is something I have wondered for quite a while.

Hi all, From a employer perspective, what makes ESP attractive to a company? What benefits does it offer the company? My employer offers leave for employees to volunteer in a 'Community Project'. The Special Constabulary doesn't fall under that category though unfortunately (according to my HR department). Has anyone on these forums managed to get their employers on board with the ESP scheme? If so, what did it take? Thanks.

Would you hope to join as a PC? I always wanted to after being a very happy special for a few years,,,I did become a PC , and I Can say nearly every officer I speak to is looking for a new job and lots are quitting some who have only been in a short time. I see myself as a mostly office based admin PC bogged down in paperwork and trying to be everything to everyone when I would rather be out on the street. Do you think the British police is in the worse condition it has ever has been before?

Hey all, I havent' found the answer in the forum, if I'm wrong my apologies. My training and experience in the police has been mostly as a detective and as a surveillance operations team member. I'm quitting the force and moving to the UK and I'm considering aplying for a job as a private detective/surveillance op. I don't know if some day (> 3 years) I will try to join the police in the UK but, just in case I would: --> When applying to the police, are applicant's background as PI seen in any matter as unpopular/getting rejected? Hi All Just want to hear your thoughts on this subject. How does it make you feel about joining the force?? I am currently employed by transport company and have been with them for last 9 years. I am on decent wage for where I live and joining Police would meant a rather large pay cut work me at least for first 3-4 years. However I am still wanting to join. Thing is my heart says go and join but my brain says, well what if they make you redundant after first or second year due to budget cuts. It seems to be risky decision at the moment. How do you feel about it guys and gals??

Hi guys, I would like to join as a special constable one day, but I was wondering whether my personality is good enough? I'm somewhat of an introvert- I don't really like socialising with other people, but I have no problem speaking to strangers if necessary (perhaps I could describe myself being 'slightly shy'?). I stumbled upon the twitter account of what appears to be a private company, known as Parkguard Ltd. They appeared at first glance to just be a security company specialising in open spaces but after browsing further it seems they have a fairly extensive role in their local area with regard to cooperating with police (Appears to be Islington, Ealing, Acton, amongst others). There are references to being involved with 'fail to stops', stopping individuals for drug possession, joint patrols with the met, dog work.
