Watching this programme tonight. It was very good. I believe I spotted a Special Sergeant or Section Officer interviewing Carl Drein. If it was, it was good to see.

Hey, now I understand that I'm being optimistic here but say if I was to make it as a special constable, how long would I be required to wait in order to put in an application to become a Regular? Are there certain targets that I have to hit before I can apply and do I have to have a certain amount of experience or does it not really matter..? I read somewhere on the internet that a Special should wait a year before putting in an application. Even then, are you even guaranteed the role and just how difficult is it to progress ? (Just curious as I like to plan ahead for the future and to see what prospects I could possibly have) Thanks guys.

I've just filled out a behavioral styles questionnaire online as part of my force area process to join as a regular. I noticed an unusual amount of questions relating to financial perspective and how good you are at dealing with numbers. This is far different from the questionnaire I took to become a special. Can anyone tell me why a regular police officer needs all this knowledge and perspective on finance and numbers?

Hi guys , Just wondering if any of you could shed some light on a question I have about tattoos . Currently a trainee special at d&c police , due to pass out in July . I have a full sleeve on my right arm , black and grey and not offensive at all (just a few portraits) . Obviously when I applied I was told that I would have to wear long sleeves all the time , which still doesn't bother me that much as have heard the black long sleeve wicking shirts are actually pretty nice and comfy ? Only thing is I have heard on the grape vine recently , that if your tattoo is obviously not offensive , too bright or what not , you can wear short sleeves if okayed with sargea…

Can the forum readers confirm if they know of any forces who employ civilians in this role or that of Assistant Investigators, CSI or similar roles? Have there been at any time, recruitment for these roles? Not looking for peoples' names or details, just if you know of how many forces have gone down this road. Thanks.

When you get charged at the police station, do they update the system straight away so your charges would show up on a CRB check for example or do they wait until the case has gone to court? i was charged on sunday just gone and admitted everything, now its going to court, but i could still plead not guilty, etc so surely they ouldnt update the system just yet?

Segways are not motor vehicle, and are as such not allowed to be insured for the road. As a mechanical propelled vehicle, how does heathrow airport get away with using them in England, as it is an offence to ride a mpv on anyland in England that is accessible to the public? Surely even airports being private land are still public places under the rta?

...for official purposes - is this something that is frowned upon? For instance, in my day job I work for a University in the Academic Registry. A student approached me today with Home Office documents for a Visa application. The documents required someone of good moral standing to complete various sections e.g. a doctor, teacher, police officer etc... I completed the form as a Special Constable. The form required an official stamp, or accompanying official document. As I wasn't at the station I copied my warrant card and attached to the documents. Is this good practice or is it likely to come back and haunt me?
