Hi I have just been informed I have passed my Assessment centre with South Yorkshire police for the role of a special constable (YAY), just wondering what the next stages are? And what does the medical involve? Thanks. Adam :-)

Is this aloud? (I would think it is) but are some forces fussy about this? Where do you keep it?

This lady was saved by two off-duty PCs (possibly from the MET) who gave CPR.

Hi all, something that's been bugging me all day - there was a vehicle pursuit broadcast over the air and the traffic unit kept using an acronym: "vra - normal" and "vra - poor". I've tried to figure out what this acronym stands for but have had no luck, any idea guys? Not sure if it matters but I work for South Wales Police. Cheers all

Hey guys, I start my regular training on 13th April at Lancs and I'm just wondering if anyone has any general advice or tips on things I should be looking to do before it begins; helpful items I might want to look into getting, or just general ways to approach and do all the work. I've been told I need to attend in business wear, bring a locker deposit, some headphones (what will these be used for?), as well as some general documents. I'm currently working my way through the two workbooks that need to be completed for the first day. I'm guessing they'll go through most of this stuff in the induction but there is no harm in being prepared. The only thing I've got on my o…

Looks like TVP rates for claiming back fuel expenses will drop from 65 ppm to 45 ppm from April 2015 onward. Has anyone else had a cut?

I'm sure we all have useful little rituals/tricks/tips for duty. I thought it might be interesting to share them. I'll start: I have a pocket in my body armour that I use only for 'current' paperwork. Whenever I issue a ticket, for example, the force copy goes in that pocket. By making sure that one pocket is empty at the end of each duty I can be certain I won't ever open a ticket book a month later and find old paperwork that I forgot to complete after the last time I used it. Whenever I've just issued a ticket, I immediately fold the book so that the next one and all its carbon copies are ready to go. It's a lot easier to take your time and make sure all th…
