I am a vetted operational PSV acting as an Area Coordinator for Community Speed Watch, responsible for training the teams of volunteers in the use of HHR and the principals of how CSW works. My questions are these: At 50 years old is it a good idea to join the specials, working on the theory I am now 'worldly wise' and still fit enough? And .... From being Vetted as a PSV is there anything extra that would need to be completed vetting wise to move up to being a Special? Could be an interesting percentage of yes and no...

Hi all! Hoping someone may be able to advise! I have been looking for details of the stages involved in Specials Selection at West Midlands in 2018. So far I have completed: • Online application • Specials Online assessment (Video interview & online values based assessment Have also been offered a combined appointment for fitness testing, biometric testing and photo in the new year. I would really appreciate any advice as to where I currently am in the process (what’s left!)? Are there further assessments or is this now at pre-offer checks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello I am unsure from the letter provided by a non Met force whether it is myself that has failed the vetting or a third party, so it is very difficult for me to write the appeal. Hello, Could some one please explain the difference between PNC subject access and PND which I believe stands for Police National Database, more of a local check. I have recently applied and received my PNC subject access, and I was then told if you want to find out what information is held about you on you local police force, you will have to apply through them directly. I want to find out what can be held in the system about you that It wouldn’t show on your subject access? Is it like each time you been spoken to by the police they made a record of it? Hi guys, sorry for another vetting quary/sob story but any optimism/supportwould be hugely appreciated. Here goes.. so I applied back in August to become a Special Constable for Avon and Somerset police. Passed the online test, went to open evening; all good. Then had the paper sift; this time last year when I applied I failed at this point however this year the god/s were looking down on me and I got through. Result. Next came the assesment centre at HQ. Was super nervous, didn’t know how I fared. Got my results last Wednesday; I smashed it! 5/15 A’s 9 B’s and 1 C(50% I’m serving the public, very close to failing). 78% overall, 55% is a pass for this constab…

Good Evening Everyone, I have recently applied for becoming a Special Constable at BTP. I was extremely over whelmed that my application was short listed the very next day after submitting my application. This was about 2 months ago now. However; I have not heard anything since and still awaiting for my AC date, and although I understand this could take a while and can be a long process, but I’m very eager to get on with it and can’t wait anymore! Hello, before applying to The Met as a Special, I would like to gather all possible information about the assessment process. There is a lot of different information out there, which are raising more questions than answers. As mentioned my force of choice is The Met as I’m aware the assessment process is not standardised across the UK. I have tried to contact The Met a few times directly, but got no answer. I have bought books, but they seem to be for ‘normal’ PCs. I wonder if the tests are identical or does it differ for Specials. My joining this site is very recent, and a last port of call if I am completely honest. I have had to many knockbacks now over the years, but most recent is vetting. I am told as an external applicant that I have no right of appeal, & that section 6 of some type of act 1996 there is no reason to disclose the decision to myself.
