Hi all, This is my first post so please be gentle. I've got my fitness test booked for December. I need some sort of guidance as to what I should be doing training wise. I live in a not very nice neighbourhood so going for jog isn't really an option. I'm looking for things I can do at home or the gym, at the moment I don't feel like I'm getting the most from my gym sessions. Any advice welcome Thank you in advance. So I have been wanting to join the police for quite awhile and about 2 months ago did.. I applied for PCSO first waiting around 8 weeks.. No answer so I decided to apply to go to a Special Constable requirement event which is in a few days, Today I open my email and have an interview for becoming a PCSO.. I accepted this and booked an interview slot but Im also attending a specials event. Two questions, Can i still attend this Specials event which is before my interview and secondly Im looking to one day become a Constable (Real Police officer) which one of the two jobs would be best for this? Regards, Julius.

Just as the title says, are you more likely to be accepted when applying for the special role rather than a full time one? Or is it just as difficult?

So after getting refused for avon and somerset on vetting well over a year ago, and then getting rejected by bedfordshire police for an unknown reason even before vetting. I managed to apply for my record to which last week i sent an email to bedfordshire police vetting team stating what id received back and do they know why my application got rejected etc. Today i got an email back stating there may of been some misunderstanding and they apologise if there has been and they want me to fill out a vetting form to be checked through vetting. Now im not too sure whats happened. I cant work out if something went wrong and i wasnt supposed to be rejected, or if they have j…

Hi, Just a quick question, what is the probability of successfully being a special whilst attending university? I currently serve as a VPC but will be attending university next year. I know many specials, many of whom do a LOT of hours, so would it be possible? I know of only one special who currently goes to uni. Cheers

Evening everyone , hope you are all well. I am currently in the vetting and medical stage and sent off forms nearly two months ago. I haven't heard anything even after emailing. Is it usual to take this long at this stage?

I've made it in, I start my training as a special next week, I'm over the moon and proud to be part of the police, it's took since March to get this far. So quite a long process with big frustrating time gaps in between, That said, I'm also very interested in becoming a full time police officer, but I'm 47, fit and healthy with a good trade. Is there an age limit on becoming a full timer? Do you start all over again or is any of what I've done of any good? Is it better to stay as a special for a period time? As regards on going training etc. Sent from my iPhone using Police Community

Hi everyone! I wanted to apply to be a Special, but I was always apprehensive about the possibility of transferring. The only reason I ask is because I'm at university, going into my third year which is in a different County. Is there any way I could join up as a special in my university county, and then transfer to my home county once I'm finished! Thank you all! - Liam S.

Recently posts regarding Vetting are on the rise. That's not a problem, after all this is a forum and people do look to come on here to seek advice or answers. The only problem is that no one (that I know of) here is a vetting officer. The answers to your questions will probably lie within the force you apply for. My best advice for anyone who is wanting to ask a question relating to Vetting is to contact your police force, they will hold the best advice for you or if you're lucky might even give you a contact number for a Vetting team that deals with the forces Vetting. If you have any questions regarding Vetting, have a read of this: HMG Personnel Security Controls - …

Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum so apologies if I have messed up. I have a question about business interests as I am abit confused and worried at the moment. One of the interests that could specifically be a problem to me is to do with holding or being related to someone holding a liqueur licence. I do not have much knowledge around this and to what extent it is enforced. Now, I am currently in the process of applying to become a Special but my parents own a newsagents shop with an 'off-licence', we live in a flat above the shop. The shop however is not in the force area to which I am applying to and I am not named at all on the licence although I do work there oc…

I have passed all of my stages for GMP specials and I had my medical last week. All seems well with the medical. The next step is a offer then uniform fitting etc. I may be relocating and I was wondering if I could transfer my application to another force instead of staring all over at the begining. Do all forces follow the same application structure? Do they all follow college of policing training guidelines. Thanks, Brian.

Hi, I'm just wondering if you take out a personal loan, do you have to notify the vetting department? Or is it just debts that are unmanageable that they need to be aware of? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
