Hello, I have had to withdraw my police application due to being unable to commit to the said force's planned start dates. However, another force is recruiting in a few months time which i realistically would be able to commit to if i was successful . Normally if one fails the police application they have to wait 6 months before reapplying however i haven't actually failed at any stage of the application so i am wondering whether i would be able to apply to this other force in a few months time. I haven't sat any SEARCH assessment centre's just to let you know.

As a stupid question doesn't exist, here we go. I'm in attendance tomorrow for my fitness and biometrics appointment, and was just wondering what the "dress code" is? I am personally going in the suit I wore for the assessment centre and interview, as it seems to have been lucky up to now. Obviously I will be taking my gym kit for the fitness side of things, as I would look pretty daft doing the bleep test in a suit. Cheers for your input guys and gals

I've got search centre coming up, I appreciate the help / insight people can give but apart from reading the competencies is there anyway to prepare? Part of me thinks I should rehearse possible situations & part of me thinks it's best not to think it about it too much, instead i think I should try to act professional calm and polite and see how it goes? advice is very welcome and appreciated

Hi, I've just joined the forum as I'm interested in becoming either a PCSO or Special constable with the view to apply for PC after a few years. Looking for some advice, Currently living in Wales and there is no recruitment on at the moment although I have been told possibly this summer they may be recruiting, in the meantime I want to do something either a course or volunteering that will help me when I do make an application what can people advise?. (currently working full time so would need to be flexible) no background in any kind of policing, worked in IT support for 5+ years since I was 19 and only have IT qualifications. Another thing that concerns me sli…

Hi all, Brief intro about me. Just passed my specials interview so on the way to becoming a special. However. I want to become a regular eventually, and i have noticed that you require A-Levels to be an officer? My problem is i do not have A-Levels. My highest qualification is NVQ2 which i passed my apprenticeship and gained. My question is, if i get experience in the specials, would i be able to apply for the role as a regular? surely experience and job knowledge outclasses an A-Level. Someone could have an A-Level in Agriculture and have more on paper than a special with experience? Please let me know guys!

Good morning all! Just a quick question for the group, how do police forces know if you have applied to other forces and if you have failed part of the process e.g. a phone interview? My understanding is that the police application, CBQ, is marked differently from force to force and is not marked by one generic company, therefore the only way a police force would find out if you have failed a part of the process (pre SEARCH) is that if you disclose it on the APP FORM. i have also read on the internet, somewhere, that you can apply to numerous forces but can only attend one SEARCH AC within 6 months, is this true? hope someone can shed some light on this! cheers Mike

Hello all. Been pondering over the idea of applying to be a Special in my spare time for a few years now (work full time in an IT role and no criminal convictions) - looking to join North Wales Police but wanted to clear one thing up before bracing myself for disappointment. On the application form it says you can type up your answers via word. Can anyone clarify this? Reason I ask is, although my grammar & spelling are ok my handwriting is atrocious. I am not sure if this is because I am left handed but I personally feel quite self conscious about it and wasn't sure if this would scupper my chances. Many Thanks

Hello, I'm in the process of applying for a PC role and have recently submitted my application form. The next step is to complete the two online apollo assessments and have heard some negative feedback surrounding these. I'm just seeking some advice in relation to the Behaviour Style Questionnaire. Apoligies if a thread has already been created.

Does anyone know if there is a specific learning book, that is tuned towards the Situational Judgement Test, that some of the forces offer at the online application stage for joining as a Regular? I've been told there is a book that will help with the test, but I can't seem to find anything other than general SJT's or ones relating to the Special Constable SJT.

Hi all. I've applied for the Specials and was wondering if my current fitness level would be enough to pass the test. I can finish the cooper test in about 9:30 (Not sure how this will relate to the bleep test) With the push/pull test I'm unsure what exercise correlates to it but I can do 3 sets of 8 at 73kg on a back row machine and about 32kg per arm on Dumbbell rows for the same sets/reps I train endurance every other day and also do two days of burst training. I've been worrying nonstop about how hard the tests will be and I have read around what people think of it, but as always some people find it hard and others too easy. Given the above stats, do I have a good…

Hi Guys, I was forced to quit my job in october to go back into education for a year, however in december I quit my course due to stress and family issues. Will this effect my application? I don't know how to disclose that I quit the course and there is no option to say why. It's really bugging me! I really appreciate your help

Hi everybody, I am going through the competencies and struggling to find a situation where I have had to make a "difficult" decision. I find that difficulty is only in the perception but any decision can be made easy/easier when all the facts are presented. I make decisions all the time but what is considered difficult? I've had a look on tinterweb and only been able to find ways to answer the question but not examples, apart from one where it was by some big company manager who had to make people redundant which is something that I do not have experience in. Thank you, M
