Has anyone had experience of the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing? I'm interested in the views of anyone having taken, or considering taking, the certificate. Your thoughts around the following would be appreciated: Was it useful/informative? How as it structured? Who was the provider? What was the quality How accessible is it? Has it proved useful? Hello world!! This is my first post in this/any forum so please excuse any mistakes that I might have made! I'm currently reasonably far through the recruitment process to become a Special Constable; I've taken a series of online tests aimed to better judge my character, alongside a telephone interview based around past experiences or skills that I have which fit in to the role of a special. I've passed everything so far and I'm currently waiting on a date for further testing which I believe will include the bleep test & biometric/drug testing. Does anyone have any info on what the rules are about being slightly colour blind or having colour deficiency? Can I still proceed or is it a no?

Failed my medical today (GMP) due to BMI being 33. Play rugby so muscle mass doesn't help but need to lose about a stone. Gutted but have 12 months to get it sorted (hopefully won't take me that long :S )

So recently, i failed a Special Constable Behavioral Styles Questionnaire. Should i wait 6 months to try again and depending on outcome then shell out for CKP (Certificate Knowledge Policing) Or would it be advised to go eggs in basket and go CKP, whilst i attempt to overcome the questionnaire? (I can have a bad time over-analyzing things sometimes). Advise is most appreciated. Regards, Morpheus..

Hi, Is there anyone on here that had to wait for their GP to write a report before they were given the green light by the OHU? The reason I ask is because all I'm waiting for is my medical to be signed off so I can start training as a SC at the beginning of September. However, I understand I need to write this in my vetting forms, but I can't remember the exact dates, how many and also some minor incidents over the years. Help please

Here's something my local force's Diversity Team were discussing today (as posted on Twitter). They asked: "Are we too fixated on 'getting the person for the job' and not focussing on 'developing the person for the job'?" My thoughts: Brief answer: Yes. Detailed answer: I suspect/ hope that it's more to do with budgetry cuts than an unwillingness to help individuals to develop but why then ask the question?
