  1. The Met has announced today that it is temporarily removing the London residency criteria for new PC recruits. If you want to join the Met as a PC and don't live in London, now is your chance - for a limited period of time only! You also do not have to have the CKP prior to starting your training either. More details here: http://news.met.police.uk/news/launch-of-time-limited-opportunity-for-non-londoners-to-join-the-met-330091?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=Subscription&utm_content=current_news
  2. Hi, I am starting my internal CKP course on 4th December. Is there anyone else?

Anyone on London Met start date April 2017? I am starting my internal CKP in March.

    CKP Requirement

It's becoming more and more common for police forces to require you to have the CKP (Certificate in knowledge of policing) before joining. So out of curiosity, I'm wondering whether it's aim is to shorten down the training days due to having done some self study in the different areas of policing, or if it's just so that you have a bit of general knowledge? Has anyone recently joined a force with the CKP?
  5. Evening, so I've received an email from Enlighten the company running the Internal CKP, giving me my login details for the course etc and then it says this... *** Don’t forget to bring your printed and signed student contract (this is supplied to you by the MPS so if you have not received it please contact MPS Recruitment as we cannot assist with this) So we're meant to bring these signed contacts but I haven't received anything. Anyone else received their contract yet? Or is the met just being the met?
  6. I've been emailed saying I start my CKP on Saturday, every Saturday and Sunday for 10 (or 12 weeks), however I was under the assumption doing the internal CKP it would be full time Monday-Friday. Weekends I can't do it as I work, and I have to give 3 weeks notice to my workplace, and I've JUST been notified of the CKP today which starts THIS saturday! I've already spoken to my workplace and I cannot get time off for 10 weekends. Any help guys?
  7. Hi guys, first time poster and short term lurker. My vetting is more or less done I'm assuming? I received this email on Wednesday "Dear Candidate, This is just a quick email to give you an update on the progress of your application. Currently you have passed all stages of the initial assessments and are waiting for your vetting checks to be completed. When these have been completed your application will be sent back to us for the referencing and training school side of things." And then today received another offering me start date of 15 October for int
  8. Hi guys, so I thought I'd move over the thread I created originally on PS.com and bring it over here, enjoy! CKP in general: Information taken from College of Policing website. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CKP regarding Metropolitan Police: Do I need CKP to join as a Police Constable with the Metropolitan Police? Yes, if you want to become a Police C
  9. I done my Day 2 at the end of May, my Language Assessment last week, and this week got an email from medical (after having to send a few more documents in) that I've passed ny Medical stage and will "hear from recruitment shortly", not sure about what exactly. If I'm correct, the next stage is the CKP course, as I've opted for the internal CKP course. How long before the start of the course do they inform me of the dates? I'm just sitting here waiting and have been since I was informed to attend Day 1 a few months back. I'd like to go away for a few days but I'm worried that I'll be infor
  10. Hello all, How much pre learning is needed prior to IPLDP? The reason I ask is because I undertook my PLC (as it was back in the day) in 2013 so its a few years old now and although I apply the learning as an SC I'm a bit worried that I can't really remember a lot word for word and section for section so to speak. However on the other hand the force I am going into had dropped the person requirement which can now be any level , pre experience etc so I'm just wondering whether it is likely we will be taught all of the information again on our 15 week course? Cheers, Matt

    CKP before applying?

Ok I tried to create a post in the Recruitment forum but it did not work. Must I have completed the ckp before I apply online for Surrey police?
  12. Wednesday, October 7th, 2015South Wales Police will be advertising for Police Constables in Spring 2016 (11 April 2016 with a closing date for applications of 18 April 2016) and we are looking for the very best candidates. As a result at this time we are only seeking applicants who have successfully obtained the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing qualification (or approved equivalent) within the last 3 years, the South Wales Police Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) exam within the last 18 months and have successfully passed our fitness test, at the closing date of 18 April 2016.To support potent
  13. I feel like i should say that the training has completely changed within Sussex now. I have just finished my training (few weeks ago) Its now like this for specials: You start off with a introduction day. (I didn't go to this due to work). Then you do 5 blocks of CKP - Certificate of Knowledge of Policing. This is all the law based lessons. Wednesday evening and all day Saturday every other week. At block 5 you have a test. Fairly easy. No one on my group failed. Then a one day first aid course. Then you go straight onto PST - Personal Safety Training. This is just 2 weekends Sat
  14. Just thought I would open a general topic area for those of us out there who have completed all elements of MET new constable assessment and are just waiting for info with regards vetting completion and intake/ internal CKP dates..... Sharing any updates and timelines might make the wait a little easier?
  15. Recently tweeted by @swpcentral South Wales Police will shortly be advertising for the role of Police Constable and we are looking for the very best candidates. As a result, at this time, we are only seeking applicants who have successfully obtained the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing qualification within the last three years. As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as black and minority ethnic (BME) candidates are currently under-represented within the Force, we would particularly welcome applications from BME applicants.

Hi All, Passed my final interview for TVP regs recently and now I need to do the wretched CKP. I'd like to hear from anyone that has done it or is doing it now as it's a bit of a mine field. Would like to know: Which provider did you use? How much did it cost? How long did it take? Did you have to attend any lectures/classroom sessions? Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Thanks, Guybrush
  17. Part of a larger article - see link below https://www.politicshome.com/document/press-release/home-affairs-committee-new-landscape-policing-not-yet-complete Home Affairs Committee: New Landscape of policing not yet complete Home Affairs Committee press release We remain of the view that the cost of obtaining the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing, which in some police force areas is a pre-entry requirement, is putting off talented and diverse recruits. This type of pre-recruitment qualification, which may be prohibitively expensive for some candidates, may stifle diversity.
  18. For those that have completed the CKP - What are your thought's on it? One day I'd love to join the job, but at the moment it doesn't quite win over my current job so I'm happy being a career special. (Money/cost aside), Do you think the CKP is worth looking into, or is it just another box to tick for recruitment purposes and most of the 'curriculum' is taught on the job?
