I was just wondering if someone could enlighten me about the DVD / visual exercise i will be taking soon at the assessment centre as part of the written exercises. I haven't been able to find much information in regards to this part of the written exercises, only that i will be required to write an incident form on an taped interview which has taken place. Are you allowed to take notes? Are you provided with a written account also? (Guessing not as its visual and testing listening skills) can anyone who's undertaken this shed some light on it for me? Thanks!

Is the answer done in small chunks, and built you through probing questions?, or is it answered as one main answer, then followed by probing questions? Could you give examples if possible? Thanks.

Hey guys, About a week ago I had my interview and, whilst I'm a little on edge as to the results (anxious I guess is a more apt term), a friend of mine told me that they contacted her regarding a reference form. In my experience, prospective employers don't generally chase references unless they're considering someone, so I was just wondering people's opinions, you think it's a good sign ? Just kind of hoping to alleviate some of the tension. Thanks in advance, ~ R

After waiting and hesitating I've finally started to complete a application to be a PC. A lot of people become a special to help with a F/t application however I've heard that putting examples of situations you've faced as SC in your application can be damaging. The thought process being the person marking it will able to find holes and mistakes in the examples you give in a way they wouldn't be able to with non police situations. (if that makes sense?) Just wondering what everyone thinks to using situations faced as a SC in a PC application?

Hi, I am just enquiring as to everyone's knowledge of attitudes towards people who have suffered from depression/low mood with associated medical treatment in regards to police applications? I suffered from low mood and anxiety last autumn in response to an unusual combination of highly stressful life events both in my personal and university life. On the advice of my university tutor I visited my GP who prescribed anti-depressants. I have been taking them for around 8 weeks and have an appointment with my GP for advice on stopping the medication. The situations have since been resolved. This I feel was a brief and unfortunate episode and I am quite concerned that it w…

Hi I am a new member so please go easy :) I am a student applying to the Met Police Specials. However I have looked into the vetting procedure, even though it is way to early. However I wanted everybodys advice. I myself have no cautions or any problems with the police, however my brother has a criminal record for driving while disqualified in 2013. He want to prison for 13 weeks. He made a mistake. However since then he hasnt done anything wrong. Will this go against my application. Thanks

Hi all, I'm thinking of joining, and am really keen to do so. I understand that as part of my duties, I may have to attend court, and take time out of work to do so. My question is, how often does that happen? Thanks, Tim

Hi all, I'm currently in the process of going through the recruitment process as a special. I've passed my assessment centre and have my medical next week. Last week, I was driving to York and chatting away to my family when I noticed a police van at the side of the road with the speed cameras poking out the back. When I looked down at my speedometer, I noticed I'd crept up to 78mph. (It was a 70mph road). I quickly slammed on to bring myself down to 70 but realised that it was probably too late anyway. Anyway, long story short, if I have been zapped (I'm more than prepared to take the penalty as I was speeding and should have been taking more notice of my spee…

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I've recently met a girl who is joining the specials and she had told ME I need to be vetted as part of the procedure. I have a criminal record from 5 years ago which was dangerous driving, no death or anything just a Dd40 which has now passed off my driving licence. I have minor offenses such as driving with out accordance 2 years after so still 3 years ago and a think a sp30 speeding. I really like this girl, and she really likes me however she's very worried that my history is going to ruin her chances of becoming a special in February. Can anybody shed any light on the matter? I have done wrong in the past but I am not a crimin…

Hi, Is it permitted to apply to more than one police force at once assuming multiple were recruiting at the same time? Is there a minimum time you have to wait if you didn't make it with one police force before you could apply to another? I would just like to establish this when applying regards
