I'm Looking to apply to regulars next month after receiving a rejection at paper sift for a rushed application earlier in the year. After reading through advice on this forum and on other forums I've noticed a few people advising that people shouldn't put "Special constable" experiences in the competency section of the form. At first at thought this was silly advice but thinking about it I can see why. Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on this? Secondly, this is tired subject but I received a email from Hertfordshire HR saying 6 month replying rule didn't apply for them if failed at paper sift. Obviously HR must know however some people say the "6 month r…

So I had my medical today and the lovely occupational therapist explained every test result and said if everything was OK once checked by someone else there, I wouldn't hear anything, any problems they will ring and then it would be passed on to recruitment and I probably won't hear anything until drugs test results and vetting are done at which point I will be invited to attend training, so just a waiting game now, yay fingers crossed

I've finally decided that i want to join the police! I'm going for SC first as they only recruit from within so I've started studying in the areas i think are required. I'm eager to apply but ive had a trip booked for a while now. Ill be going away in May 2016 for anything from 4 - 12 months on a round the world trip. Will this cause any problems with my application? If it does can i cut the trip down to about 4-6 months. I've already been on a similar trip last year and im hoping that doesnt cause any problems either. Also would it be possible for me to apply and become a special before May then take some leave for travel? I appreciate any replies. I'm very eager…

Hi there everyone, New member here! I was hoping to gain some advice (prior to receiving my information pack) in regards to the assessment day in Wakefield to become a Special for WYP. I applied a few days ago and revieved an e-mail earlier on today inviting me to an assessment day on the 9th of November 2015. I was hoping to meet others who have applied and if possible anyone who will be at the assessment day on the 9th. Kind regards, Lee

Hi all, I apologise if this has been posted before. If it has please feel free to direct me to the thread. As a 19 year old that has only been out of school for a year (Granted I went straight in to work within a month of leaving) I haven't got any scenario that I can put in the Race and Diversity section of the application. Does anyone have any recommendation about what to do about it? I don't work in a place where I really deal with people of different races etc that allows me to provide a scenario as required on the form. Any help would be much appreciated.

After finding out I passed the A/C a few weeks ago, I've finally received my scores today. I achieved 68% overall and 78% in working with others. HR have said that they are taking on a certain amount from this assessment, based on the scores. Obviously I've passed, but I was wondering what is considered a 'good' score?

Well, I attest next Tuesday, but something confuses me. On the medical questionnaire it asks specifically if you have Psoriasis. I answered yes, but never got questioned about it. What is the reason they ask this, and does it actually affect anything?

Apologies if someone has already asked this, I just can't seem to find it on here. Does anyone know what % each part of the assessment centre is worth towards the overall score? - PIRT - Written Test - Interview Thanks

How important is it to have neat handwriting when doing your written tests? My handwriting is terrible so I would like to know if I should be practicing it.

Anyway i was emailed saying id passed the Assessment centre on the 15th Sept (was really chuffed, may have done a little dance... dont you judge me) My questions are, How long was the wait from receiving that great email to the medical/fitness? When did you get the detailed feedback? curious to see what i did well in because i thought i did pretty poor. Thanks in advance Ryan

So i left uni and looked for a job, Just been offered casual work at a hospitality place, it's is not what i expected and I dislike it strongly. The pay is poor (I sort of new this already) but the conditions are pretty dire too. I'm a strong believer that the key to happiness is through a job you enjoy, If I left this job next week 1) Would i be paid for the hours I've done already? 2) If, one day I applied to the police could this potentially be a serious issue for references and vetting? thanks in advance, I find this forum very helpful. It Seems wanting career in the police + being special is complicated

Did anyone else struggle to answer the competency based questions on the application form? I work in a petrol station and I know there has been situations that would fit into those questions but I'm having trouble bringing them to mind any tips?

I recently applied to become a Special Constable. I was successful at the interview and assessment day (which included the fitness test) back in March. I was scheduled in to for my medical and other appointments on the day. For my medical I had to fill out a medical questionnaire and had an eye test done before hand. On the medical questionnaire I declared that I am colour-blind. My optician wrote on the eye test "mild deuteranomalous trichromat" - i.e. red-green colour blind. I was due to start my training this month, but I was contacted to say that my application was due to be put on hold because of something I disclosed during my medical appointment and that they …

I'm concerned however that i will not be accepted due to having no sense of smell. I realise it is quite important in some situations and i fully understand their reasoning if i get rejected. But i need clarification really so i can move on or press forwards. Cheers for the help guys.
