Hello all, In 2012 I applied to be a SC, but failed the vetting and wasn't given a reason. It knocked me back. However after much deliberation with myself I decide to try again, what did I have to lose? Well after trying again, it's payed off! My appointment letter is on its way and I've finally achieved what I've wanted! So to anyone out there that gets knocked back, stand up and go back stronger! Anything is achievable. I'm so glad i tried again! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

Alright, so this is for a friend of mine. They had signed up to volunteer for Specials, ended up passing everything except for the last test, I think it was the part where they scour every bit of the internet. The reason they had given for failing my friend was that he/she didn't use correct language on social media. What's bizarre is that they're not one to use brash language or crude humour. And even more so they had met my friend, interviewed, and had them take tests. Everything was spot on except social media. Can they really use that as a means to fail someone? What's a good plan to move forward or get answers?

Hello, So I've been working my way through the Specials recruitment, I've done all the assessments (interview, sjt, Physical, Medical) and that was all fine, I've done my CTC form online and haven't heard anything for the past month or so, So I'm asking, is it normal for the emails to go quiet for a period after doing this or should I be worried?? I've no convictions, nothing to hide so just wondering if anyone else had a gap of no communication ??? Regards Dominic

Does anyone know if this is possible? I have an application going through for the Specials which is now at vetting stage but my chosen force is now recruiting for regular trainee PCs which I would prefer and would like to apply but don't really want to withdraw my Specials application just in case for some reason I don't make it through the recruitment process for the regular PC.

Good morning all, With my special constable interview coming up very soon I’m wondering if I can take some notes into the interview with me? Obviously I’m doing plenty of revision and work before hand but I’ve not seen anything to say I can’t take some notes in with me on what I’ve got to say. Thanks

Hi, I recently received my special constable conditional offer and have sent off all my vetting, medical and reference forms. My medical is in a few days with the OHU and my fitness test was 2 weeks away but now its been postponed by 6 weeks. I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on whether I now have to wait for my fitness date in December before I can be given a date for training. The email didn't mention when gateway training would be starting and I thought maybe I'd get the dates for this before my fitness test is complete as I have heard of a few people who begin gateway training before they actually do their fitness test. I know no one can giv…

Hi, I recently had my specials assessment day and was asked a scenario question, I was wondering what anyone else would have put. The scenario was something along the lines of: You have just gone out on patrol and your sergeant has asked you to attend a busy junction where the traffic lights are not working. However a member of the public approaches you and makes you aware of an elderly lady walking around in her nightwear. You can't get ahold of your sergeant and there are no other officers or PCSOs to help. Which scene do you attend first and why? I said I would attend the vulnerable lady as there is a much higher risk to life as sh…

Hi all, Just finished my interview yesterday and hate to say it, it didn't go as well as I was hoping. Had tons of prep, but I think I wanted it so bad that nerves kicked in. My mind went blank twice, and though I think I got a few good points in, I may have waffled a bit. not feeling good about it at all. was wondering, does anyone know how fussy they are with interviews? I'm fairly certain I gave some good answers and demonstrated a good understanding of the role, it's just that I was asked a couple of easy questions and it may have seemed like I was struggling..

Hi, I have step siblings from my father's first marriage and I think one of them may have a conviction against him for theft and went to prison. Thing is, my side of the family has had almost no contact with that side ever since I was born to the point where I can barely provide much more than their names and date of births ( which are mostly guesses). how much do you guys think this will hurt me..?

Hi i recently applied to the special constabulary in merseyside police and was declined based upon my previous criminal convictions which were: 1 count of drink drive banned for 16 months with no points in 2008 (blew 49 at police station) 2 counts of drunk and disorderly in 2006 & 2007 1 count of criminal damage in 2006 1 bankruptcy for 1 years which ended in October 2015 Now as far as i can see the rules set by the government is that anything drink drive its a instant decline on application if its within 10 years and 5 years for everything else. So after speaking to merseyside police im reapplying in 2018 as thats then 10 years, what my question …

Not a recruitment question, so please move if necessary. I'm just wondering if Specials can sign passport/driving licence applications to confirm the identity of the applicant? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
